Bad dealer experience forces request for ideas

I think I've actually ordered a few (non-Festool) bits from IW in the past and have had a good experience. And I'm across the pond!

I'd be inclined to let them make it right for you, although I can understand your frustration with deadlines and all.
Cheers.

+1 for Intelligent workshop. I've had several good transactions in the past.

Tom loves his Festools, knows a lot about them (he also has some videos on youtube demonstrating them) and his customer service is first-class.

I've not bought from intelligent workshop but do know Tom who runs a forum called the wood haven and was a member for many years of the UK workshop forum.

To me he seems an honest guy.

Thanks for your support guys.  I did my best to make it right for bellchippy, as we were in the wrong.

If I can ever help with anything, feel free to contact me directly.

+1 for Tom, have used IW a few times and also been a first class service, I pre ordered a Dust Deputy from them and they kept me well informed as to the progress.

Tom (IW) is definitely an honest guy.

I bought loads of different packs of abrasives from him which he conveniently sells (or at least used to sell) in smaller quantities than the standard packs - he charged a pro-rata price for 10 based on the 100 pack price. I don't think many (if any) dealers do this and it is great for a hobbyist like me. Out of 20 or so packs he got one wrong (sent 2 of 1 and missed another) he sent a replacement but didn't ask for the extra one back even though it was £8 worth of product. I bought a set of Bessey clamps from him because his was the lowest price. A clip on one was broken despite careful packaging by Tom. He sent a replacement clip and threw in a pack of Festool pencils as a gift. I would buy from him again.

This issue is now resolved after nearly four weeks, when I order tools I usually need them and although I now have the tools I had to manage without so they will just sit there until the next time I need them. All dealers could help by saying weather tools are in stock or not, we all know most festool orders take about a week to come from Germany so plan accordingly but as the weeks go by and you can't contact anyone you start to wonder what's going on, it would be nice if someone would contact you to let you know there might be a delay. I for one will think twice befor ordering online and will probably use my local dealer a bit more, the few pounds I saved weren't worth all the hassle.

anybody used powertoolsupplies.co.uk? prices are good no address on the site that I can see

They get a big thumbs up from me - I have only recently discovered Festool and Matt at powertoolsupplies has sold me a RTS400 and a Rotex 90 and given me excellent service and lots of help. I do find their website slow but recommend them highly !

Thanks for the welcome !

I did take a few looks at this place before I got my first Festool and am already looking at getting a third - all within a few weeks....

My poor credit card....

I would also like to recommend Direct Brand Tools in Fulham, London.

I went in for a quick look and was pounced on by Gary, the manager there.
He used to work for Grizzards who were also in Fulham and were the best tool shop I ever knew - amazing advice and friendly too.
Despite not having seen Gary for many years he immediately knew my name and then spent a long time showing and explaining a few Festools to me.

Given that most of the tools I bought from Grizzards I still have and are still in regular use (my Elu planer must be 23-25 years old, and my 18v DeWalt drill has to be close on 20 years old) I can vouch for the quality of advice and equipment, and from what I saw in DBT I guess Gary and the other staff are carrying on in the same way.
