This is another one to match the style of the first phase of this job. It's a little different in that it will get a Quartz top, made by someone else. I think a local company is doing it? This job is over 150 miles away from us. It also has a very impractical upper top section, made of the same material. It is not smooth or even close to flat, looks cool though, miter-folded from the front and over the top. The harringbone, rather than miter, on the top corners was a last-second over-ride of the drawing. (It was approved by the project manager, I'm not insane) It didn't quite get finished today, but very close. I built the main structure yesterday, finished the laminating this morning and almost made it.
My camera always makes these things look darker than they actually are, I'm not sure why? It is definitely not that dark.

That looks absolutely awesome!

How do you guys finish something like that? I'm picturing lots of splinters catching skin or clothing?

beautiful, I really like the look of barn wood and build a lot of rustic furniture.

I sometime use a coat of waterbase poly on the barnwood depending on what I build and its purpose

Amazingly enough, they go just like this. No finish, no sanding, nothing at all.
It gets a stone top on the lower part, the others have had stone upper tops too. Why this one is different, I don't know?
IMHO, what it needs is a glass top. Some metal stand-offs to hold it up 1/2" or so, with a inch of overhang to hold you away from it a bit, would make it better.

The last two pics.
