Our bath remodel hasn't been high on the priority list for the past few years but finally I'm ordering materials. One major project is the bathtub. It's a cast iron tub and in really good shape but it's blue. A couple of years ago when I investigated it the long-range durability of re-surfacing the tub didn't look good, so I decided to probably replace it with a steel tub.

Just giving it a last chance - has there been any miracle coating discovered in the past couple of years?

Thanks

We hired a company to spray an epoxy on our tub and it's held up well, several years of use with no problems.

We hired a company that went by name of Miracle Method. Franchise-type operation.
I absolutely did not want to mess with this type of project on my own. Of course, depending on the price (and other factors), your decision could be different.

I hired a professional to coat a rarely used hall bathroom tub. It took him about 6 to 7 hours to complete. About 2 hours to set up for the over-spray (masking).

He used a huge blower/vacuum to exhaust the over-spray out the window in the bathroom.

It’s been about 7 years and it looks brand new, probably because no one has used the tub since it has been coated.

I only coated it because it was cheaper than replacing. I will look at the receipt to see what it cost back then.
