Batteries Discontinued

These lads are carpenters so the high power consumption tools will be circular saws.
I don't know what you do for a living but there's a lot of difference between typical trade usage and typical homeowner usage.

Mind my Hitachi batteries bave been lasting well and must be knocking on for ten years by now.
There is a difference, but maybe not as much as you might think. I recently retired from being a cabinet shop pro, still owning and using all of the stuff I had there. However, my "at home" tools also include more 36v than I ever used in the shop. Lawn mower, string trimmer, and leaf blower all take 2 batteries. They are all continuous-use tools tool. No one runs a circular saw, recip saw, drill, etc from fully charged too totally dead, with just one trigger pull. The lawn tools do that regularly, though not year-round.
The only 36v in the shop is the miter saw.

There you have it CRG. Barely a month into retirement and you're just another guy in his garage making cutting boards. 😘
That's not true.....it is funny though. I did a set of frame & flat panel doors, for one of my old bosses, in the second week that I was off. Nothing special, just Poplar frames, MDF panels. They went back to the shop for paint.
I've made a few drawers and shelves, for myself, storage/sorting is still a thing. I got some White Oak ply, for a cabinet project, in my house. I'm still not sure whether I want to edge band or face frame them, so I haven't gotten too far with that yet.
The funny part is that I just started on a cutting board. It's bigger than I have ever made before 18 x 24 x 2 1/2 thick.
The guy fancies himself somewhat of an amateur butcher, needing a better surface. I haven't done any cutting board stuff in months, maybe 6 or more?
I still need to finish building that TV stand I started over a year ago too.
People were right, I'm as busy not working as I have been in years.

Best part of retirement is the picking and choosing of what you commit to do.:)
