Can’t speak for Australia and what is available, but as of this morning the 3.0Ah (577658) is still available from Festool Germany.

Weight difference between 3.0Ah and 4.0Ah HPC is about 200g. 4.0Ah HPC has a marginally larger footprint.

Looks like the 4.0ah is the only choice, very slim though which is good.

The 3.0 is a single row 18650 pack at ~400g
The 4.0 HPC is a single row 21700 pack at ~600g
The older 4.0 is a dual row 18650 pack at ~700g

Because of the larger cells the HPC has a slightly larger footprint.

The high power 4.0 are your only option, down here, for 'compact'. They're absolutely fine, for drills and drivers.

I wanted to upgrade the battery size on my Protool Quad Drive drills and rang Festool Oz because the website was not clear to me. I wanted to buy from non genuine suppliers but have not been able to find any sources. Over $200AUD for a battery does not appeal to me so I won't be going any further with the idea. When the present batteries fail it will be another brand as the drills aren't that special, I bought them on a run out fire sale for a huge discount when Festool Oz abandoned the brand here.
