Battery with a light beep while charging

I have two of the 4.0AH batteries that came with my CXS 18. One of them, when in the charger, has a repeating light beep sound every 10 seconds. The other does not. Both are on the most current firmware. Any thoughts about the beeping on that one battery and is it something to be concerned about? Thanks in advance!

The 4.0 battery packs are problematic, there's been a lot of discussion and comments on the FOG about the problems associated with them. Personally, I think there should be a recall to rectify the situation. I have 3 of the batteries, the newest with 8 charging cycles will charge to 100%, the one with 18 charging cycles will only charge to 66% and the one with 56 charging cycles will only charge to 71%. I like the performance considering their size and weight but Festool should address the problems associated with them.

If your batteries are still under warranty, I'd keep a sharp eye on them to make sure the "light beep sound" doesn't turn into a larger issue.

What kind of beep? Usually the charger pauses every few x seconds to check what the no-load voltage is. This might cause coilwhine.

Are they the 4.0 HPC with 21700 cells?

They are the standard 4.0 AH batteries that came with my CXS 18. It's a single beep every ten seconds while on the charger.

Agree, but that's why I'm asking here before doing the warranty dance. ;)

TCL 6? If you have a TCL 6 Duo or SCA 8, try it in one of those.
I have no idea what those are... 🥹 ...so I guess I don't have them. The only Festool battery operated tools I own are the CXS 18 and two "original" CXS.

Just chargers. TCL 6 Duo is a two slot version of the TCL 6 that comes with lots of tool kits. SCA 8 is the rapid, air cooled charger. I ask because the TCL 6 is notorious for making noises which sound like beeping.

Thanks. I only have the charger that came with the drill/driver and batteries. I'll check the model number when I go out to the shop later.

Edit...single slot TCL 6

My chargers make that light beep (or small cheep, depending on your point of view) every ten seconds while charging, not only is it very irritating but also as I work on sites and often have to charge them in site offices its a good way of getting them switched off while charging as site agents don't like the noise. It sounds a bit like a battery powered fire alarm does when the battery is on its way out and they make a regular "beep"

I don't mind the noise the charger makes as it starts to charge the batteries, nor the noise it makes at the end of the charge.
The "Helpful suggestions" I recieved on this forum saying I should strip the charger and snip the wire to the little beeper were about as much use as a chocolate teapot.

It's a bit like Chinese water torture and my TCL6 (I think anyway) charger does it with the 5.2 old style batteries with no charge indication LED lights the newer 5.2s with bluetooth and the 6.2 with bluetooth also.
Personally I feel that whoever thought the beep every ten seconds was a good idea needs to be gently tapped on the head with a slate batten in time with the beep til they see the error of their ways.
As far as I'm concerned its bleedin irritating whilst providing very little in the way of useful feedback.
