In 1966, my uncle was playing upright bass in a country-western band at (I think) the NCO club at Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa, Japan. one day, staff came in while they were rehearsing and told them a band from England would be coming in to rehearse and would be playing a show that evening at the club. His band removed their equipment from the stage in prep for the guest band. When they arrived, he was introduced to the Beatles and helped them with any questions as they set up. He was surprised at how big their amps were and how loud they played. When he asked John about it, he just laughed and commented about it being rock-n-roll. Word got out that they were at the club and my uncle couldn't believe all the screaming people (mostly girls) outside. Needless to say, security was very tight.
