Anyone know if a slight crook in a rail is a big deal? Its slight enough that it can be pushed down flat very easily. Curious to know how folks have dealt with it.

I got one a few month ago and it had a nice bow to it. Supplier sent me a new one and never sent ups to pick up the damaged one. I put some pressure on it in the center with then ends supported and you can't even tell it was bent, been using it with no problems. [big grin]

Good to know, I can get with a slight crook for half price. Might get it.

Check to make sure that it will not need to be clamped to be used.  That would be a pain.

I think it would..But I thinking if I worked it a little I could get it back to a point where it won't need to be clamped anymore. It was a slight crook, just couldn't be sold as new.

Cut it either side of the bend. Then you'll have two good rails.

Its more towards one end than the middle unfortunately. I could lop it off I guess. But this is the standard rail, it's already short enough.

That is how mine was. Just took my time and put small amounts of pressure on it until it was straight, or very close.

Are the shorter rails worth it? I would like to have a rail for the router I am about to pull the trigger on, but I hear everyone here say anything less than 106 is too short. This was the 75 inch guide rail BTW.

I personally don't have the room for a long rail so I use my 75" and 55" all the time, separate or joined.

I have a pair of 1400's and a 1080 that meet all my needs separately or in combination.  I used top align them with a long level but the Betterley StraightLine Connector has spoiled me for speed and accuracy.

Personally  I think a range of sizes  is the way to go.  I  like the 3000 , but not for short cuts, that would just be a pain.  32", 55", 75" 118" does  everything very nicely.

I may got for this thing and try to correct the bend. It's really only a slight bend.

You said the bend was towards one end. What's the max length  if you cut the bend end off?

Not exactly sure, but I bet I could get a perfectly straight 1400 out of it.
