SWMBO and I will be in Berlin in November staying near Potsdamer Platz.  I'd like to get to a Festool Dealer to pick up some odds and ends that are NAINA.  Can someone recommend a Dealer that is not too hard to get to?

Maybe we have a Berlin local. If not:

“MSK Werkzeughandel” about 8km from where you will be staying. No experience, no working website, but closest speaking of distance.

The following two might be trade only, aka you have to setup an account with them.

I highly recommend getting in touch with any dealer first, making sure they have a showroom you can visit, and the goodies you want.

Kind regards,

Many thanks kind sir!  I especially appreciate your advise that the dealers may be for trade only!  I'll certainly reach out to them first.

Oliver gave you a great start and I won't be able to improve on it since I don't live near the Berlin area either.  However, my experience with finding Festool dealers using the Festool.de site has been disappointing.

My favorite stocking Festool dealer in Mannheim closed several years ago.  I was able to buy most of what I wanted from their stock, but some items, such as the VAC SYS1 and SYS2, had to be ordered.  Even then, the wait was three or four days and I had my option of a store pick-up or having the item drop shipped to my house at no additional cost.  I always chose the store pick-up because I liked the employees.

My new favorite stocking dealer is a bit closer, but has a small fraction of the inventory of the previous store.  As with the first favorite, anything I want from the catalog, and not in stock, can be delivered in a few days.  I bought a router from store stock, but the rest of the tools had to be ordered.  While I also like the employees at the new store, the street access and availability of parking make it difficult to visit, so I now have everything drop shipped to my house and communicate with them via phone or email.  It is still a brick and mortar business and preferable to me over a strictly online transaction.

As a point of reference, a quick search of the Festool dealers in Mannheim, from the Festool.de website, shows six stores within the immediate Mannheim area.  I visited three of them, and only one had any Festool items in stock.  Unfortunately, the Festool items were sandpaper because the primary focus of the businesses was paint and painting supplies.

I can appreciate the desire to visit a stocking distributor in person; however, if your stay in Berlin is limited, you might want to consider placing an order from an online vendor and have the shipment delivered to the hotel.  I did this many years ago when I was visiting the States and wanted a Timex watch that was not available in Europe.

No question about contacting them in advance. Take a look at the non-Festool stuff while there. You will probably see some very interesting stuff that might be of use.

Thank you all!  I've reached out to the dealer closest to where I'm staying and am awaiting a response.  By the looks of their Google profile the shop is worth a visit, no telling what I might find  ;D ;D ;D!  I had considered ordering what I what and having it delivered to my hotel.  TBH, I don't "need" anything.....

What Mike writes is sadly very true these days.

I will write a little story. Back when I started buying Festool, and I’m only talking about our more or less local area, going to a dealer selling Festool was almost a 100% guarantee to find a well stocked dealer, not just on Festool products but basically everything else they sold. This would highly improve the overall shopping experience as well.

Even the back then closest Festool dealer, right here in our small town, had a well stocked sales area exclusively for Festool. I could go there in the middle of a project and buy any accessory/consumable I would ever need, and even a casual visit to see some (new) tools and make the curtesy purchase of a box of filter bags (or whatever) was never a miss. They also had the Plug-It cables as well as the spare kits (for as long as they were available) in stock.

There were other Festool dealers a bit further away who had the whole selection of router bits and everything. You would find the machines on display to have clear signs of demo use, see a clearly used MFT … Some even had a separate demo room, full of clearly used tools - or you would even witness a demo taking place. Been a long time since I have seen that.

And once Festool released new tools, once the date came you could be 100% sure those dealers had them for sale right away.

These days, what can I say, it has changed and not for the good. There are still exceptional dealers, but they have become even more scarce to find. (And here I thought back then it was already hard to find an exceptional dealer …)

Since now every Festool dealer I can reach means at least an hour roundtrip, and it’s not like it used to be, I make sure I give them a call first. Truth to be told, it needs to be an item I need immediately for me to even think about making such a trip these days.

Again, there are exceptional dealers - wish we had a member from Berlin to put you on the right track for a pleasant experience.

Kind regards,
Oliver
