Here we go ... all I had were my old sash clamps, a bunch of various Irwin quick clamps, no-name F-clamps, Record G-clamps ... you know the sort of thing.

My local tool shop has a really nice Bessey display. My mistake? I got to close to it  [crying]

I've started the ball rolling with 2 x 300, 4 x 600, 2 x 800, 2 x 1000. I just know it's not going to end there.

I'm not going to tell my wife how easy they are to use (or how much force they'll create) - coz she'll probably use one on my head in my sleep.

I understand your pain Kev, they are pricey down here.
Check out the new Master's stores, they sell Besseys.

Cheers

Do you have link I could follow?

Kev.

Yes, very nice clamps indeed. Be sure to get the angle heads for them.

Check out the Jorgenson Cabinet Master clamps.  They compare very favorably, and are available on Amazon.com

Freight to Oz is the killer on things like this - heavy and large ... Costs as much to ship as the items themselves.

If I bought 10 Besseys at a time I got a good discount. Hopefully I'll be able to do another 10 similarly discounted soon.

I bought 10 K body Revo's then I got a few Jets.....I like the Jet's better.  You have to always clamp down the Revo's when you store them or when you pick them off the rack the bottom half comes crashing towards your fingers.  I still reach for the K bodies the most because they are what I know.

This summer a small millwork shop was going out of business and I picked up 13 two foot old Bessy K bodies and 12 four foot Gross Stabil parallel clamps for $200.  I glued up a large beam wrap and used 30 parallel clamps, between the wood and the clamps it probably weighed 500 lbs.

Clamps are an addiction...you can have too many clamps just usually not the type you really need at the moment.

Bought 4 x 1000 mm a couple of years ago and even though they're not the clamps I use the most they're still my favorites. Cost me around $420 here in DK. Thanks for linking to the angle units - I'll definitely have to pick a couple of those up.

Btw, if I were to buy two smaller clamps which would you recommend for general use with no special projects in mind? 600 or 800 mm?

I'm going to say 600 ... I think the 800's are an "in between" size clamp that I won't use much personally. I can see myself using 400, 600 and 1000 the most.

... That's for home projects though, I see the problem with collecting clamps spoken of here ...

Deal of the century!

Cheers, Kev. Yeah I guess the 800 would come too close to the 1000. I'll probably go for the 600 but also check out the 400.
