Bessey Mini Vice S10-ST

Haven’t really used this since I bought it a while ago.. so today when I looked for a Dubuque clamp i remembered this vice.
Thinking this will live at a short distance of the drill press, adding some anti skid on the base and its perfect for holding those small items at the drill press. Being in plastic it doesn’t mar the wood, but are still quite substantial.

Why not? Fun to try? [big grin]
.. Well it was the bit that was in the drill press at the time.. it would press down on the dowel, and it was a good test to see if the vice was suited for drilling into dowels, as there is a plan to use the dowels for locking pins, and I would need to drill a hole in several of those.

That's a nice little vise for the drill press. Convenient to use and move with a handle to hang on to.  [smile]

It rather reminds me of a Heinrich vise that is common in metal shops for use on the band saw and/or drill press.

Interesting.  I almost ordered one, until I remembered I can use one of my Wood Handscrew Clamps to do the same thing.

It is,  and it’s identical to the one Peter Parfitt featured in his video - adapting it to the MFT V-grove.

That Heinrich vice looks good.. I’ve been alongside a few metal workers in their shops, but haven’t seen one like it.

rmhimden: It was my thought too, was ready to cut a v-groove into its jaws. But that meant dismantling it first.. lazy makes think creatively  [big grin (About what one might have..)
