Bessey makes jaw adapters for their K-Body Revo bar clamps. They accomplish two things. One is they pivot, in case the opposing sides of the workpiece are not parallel. The other is they spread the clamping pressure over more of the edge, since they are about 7" long and perpendicular to the jaw. I question the benefit of this second property, since they don't appear to be robust enough to resist flexing on either side of the jaw. Has anyone tried these? Can you reduce the number of clamps for gluing (say, 1/2") edge banding? Thanks.

I have loads of the adapters - they work well and are surprisingly strong.  You can probably achieve much the same with offcuts of wood, however, the Bessey ones don't keep falling out onto the floor the way odd scraps of wood do.

They also have a rubber facing which again allows some minor flex should that be needed in order to close a joint.   For glue-ups with multiple clamps to join boards / edge banding etc, they are great.  If you need the full power of the K-Body in a concentrated spot, just use the clamp alone or with a wood offcut.

I think they are a good accessory for the K-Body.

Hi Nick

The extra wide jaws for the K Body Revos are really good. I have a pair of them and will probably get some more when I go to the next woodworking show (you get some great deals at the UK shows). These jaws have a dovetail interface onto the clamp face and so they stay in place and are easy to handle. They are plenty strong enough - if anyone needs to use so much force that might risk breaking them then they need to improve their woodworking!

Thanks to all for the thumbs up. I ordered some, and look forward to putting them into service. And just to reassure Peter: I'm not using excessive force--actually very little force. My objective is to distribute that force over a longer section of the workpiece edge for consistency in glue-up. Until recently I did not use clamps at all for tabletop glue ups, relying instead on the "rubbing" technique with pinch-dogs at the end. I learned the hard way that clamping pressure can cause local squeeze out that results in an inconsistent glue line. A 7" clamp jaw should fix that.
