Best cordless nailers

Thanks for all the replies -- lots of options it seems.  You would think by now that at least one company would have made the full line of nailers for use with same battery -- I would buy into it just to not have more battery chargers crowding the cordless station in my shop.

If you had to have air for a nailer the little pinner would be the least trouble.  A portable tank would power one all day for what I've used it for.  Normally I just use it to attach mitered returns.  Works great on those little pieces.

I used the Ryobi 18 gauge to do all the trim in a recent addition except for what the little pinner did.  I needed the 16 gauge for the flooring but the 18 handled the base and casing well.  The Ryobi is a bit finicky about the angle you hold it but is otherwise a nice tool.

I have two cordless nailers, both from Dewalt. The first, and favorite is the 18G DC 608. I've had it for nearly 5 years, and it has proven to be a workhorse. With fresh 18V batteries it will install trim far faster than I'm capable of. It's been used to trim every room in three homes, and is a "most borrowed tool" in my stable.

On the other hand, I have a very disappointing DeWalt DC 690. I've yet to get reliable framing nail delivery from this junk. It drives nails too deep, too shallow, bends them, and jams all from the same magazine into the same board with zero adjustments. Simply put, it won't drive nails repeatedly. I would sell it on Craigslist, but I would feel guilty about ripping someone else off. I bought it while I was working overseas, and by the time I returned home (and unboxed it) the refund/return period had long since passed. I have read that DW is now offering a two speed version of this tool, but after wasting $400 on the useless one, I've passed on it.

I would highly recommend the 18V, 18 Gauge cordless driver from DeWalt. I would stay away from the framing nailer though.

I guess it's the same as all cordless tools - it would be ideal to be on one or two battery platforms, but there is no one manufacturer who does everything.
Seems we must be resigned to collecting different battery chargers!

Put about 400  nails through  my paslode framing nailer today  and  all went well.
Happy days.
Running on gas I purchased  a few years  ago.
