Best sliding table saws

90 day? I never heard such a thing. The Felders have 10 year warranties on their sliders(the sliding tables anyhow)! Sounds like a no brainer. That's way to much money not to have a several year warranty.

I completely agree with that statement. I was appalled by the sales man saying that he has seen 50 year old machines. I simply stated to him, "That was a saw built 50 years ago not a saw built last week." With the quality of some parts really declining I don't see a 90 day "limited warranty" worthy of my money. My Felder sales man even said he will right up a 30 day gurantee contract if it gets my business. That really to me says it all. No one gives that kind of a gurantee unless they truly believe in the quality of their product. Also, there is at least a 1 year on all electronics of the machines.

Both the price and the warranty for Minimax in the US shocks me!!

It's ironic that ... unlike everything else ... Felder/Hammer are great value in Oz relative to everything else.

Additionally, for a home workshop .. I'm not into the full combination machines, but the saw spindle is a good combo. The B3 Winner or Comfort offer a lot of value here!

Despite having a separate router table already, I like the idea of having access to a meaty spindle moulder, but without the need for another big machine station.

So I have set my sights on the Hammer k3 winner 79x48. The price point is unbeatable for the saw and it leaves me room to also buy there 17" bandsaw. Also with the purchase I will be buying the Hammers 1,300 cfm 140 mm dust collector soley to run for the saw. Now I just have to wait for my shop space to open up and I will be placing a very exciting order.

I am very jealous!  I have wanted one of those (exact same model) for a few years now. I found one for sale a while back that was a steal at under 5k but I didn't have the cash on hand. I also didn't have the room!!

Enjoy it and I will be glad to live vicariously through you till I get mine!  Did you think about the B3 at all?

Taylor, congrats! I liked your strategy so much, I decided to do the exact same thing. Its funny how a purchase like this can be so excruciating but I hope you got some relief once the decision was made.

So yesterday, I went to the Felder offices in Sacramento and met with Liz Rogers and Fergus who were very helpful. Liz has been especially patient with me. Steve Rowe is right, the Felder 7 series is amazing (the smoothest slider I've seen) and if I where a production shop I'd buy that saw in a second. After initially looking at the A3, B3 and 4400,  I decided to go with K3W 79x48 and the Felder FB510 Bandsaw which are major upgrades for me. I'll budget for the A3 in the future.

I'm just gonna go with the saw. The spindle is a nice extra but when I get my shop I will have more than enough space to have a shaper. My problem right now is cash and the machinery I still really want to make my shop more efficient.

I took a hard look at the B3 but based my decision on budget and getting the best table saw and bandsaw I could afford. By skipping the shaper I was able to get the FB 510 instead of the Hammer 4400. I am going to sign paper work this week but if I am not mistaken I think you can add the shaper later, no?

You can always ask but I think the answer will be something similar to:  Longer tables require additional support frames which jut out from the front and rear and are an integral part of the machine.  This not only provides support for the table but prevents tipping of the machine when you have a heavy mass extended on the table.  I am pretty sure the Hammer K3 series is maxed out at 79" table length for this reason as it does not have that additional support and appears to have the same frame for all table lengths.  There are also differences in outrigger configurations for longer tables (i.e. - longer tables require a longer outrigger support arm).    If you want the Hammer with a longer table look at the K4 otherwise, you are in the 500 or 700 series machines.

I've heard of jigs people using to get over the 79" rip. Is doing this actually a safe, reliable and repeatable operation or is it bullocks?
