Best way to lubricate or grease Drill Press rack and pinion rail?

Anybody got a clue what the best grease or other method is lubricate the rack and pinion rail and mechanism on a floor drill press?  I'm gone for long periods of time, and am trying to insure that I don't get any corrosion, while maintaining ease of travel.
