Bit Holder

Received my PDC 18v last week, fantastic drill but can someone tell me why festool supply all their drills with the magnetic bit holder that won't hold bits? I feel a bit cheated having to spend another £20 on the retained bit holder. Also is it just me or do the standard festool pz2 bits not fit some screws very well?

I got my pdc last week and thinking it would be supplied with the locking bit adaptor I sold the one I had with my 12v cdd drill.

This turned out a good thing as I ended up converting my wera kraftform screwdrivers bit holder to centrotec.  It still works with the kraftform and now with the centrotec chuck.  I will be getting the 75mm wera rapidaptor bit holder to convert to centrotec so I got a short one and a long one. They take all types of hex bits and lock them in nicely.  They are one handed operation too. Much better than the festool locking bit adapter.

I posted about this on another thread earlier. I wont be paying high prices for festool bits as I can use any type of hex bit including centrotec bits as they also fit into this bit holder so dont need to keep swapping bit holders.

What would have been perfect was the wiha centrofix bit holder as it also locks any type of bit including centrotec.  It is particularly good for long bits and drills as there should be no wobble as it has  a four point locking system. Sadly the hex shank is only 28mm long and to covert to centrotec you need at least 34 or 35mm.

I suspect that the magnet is missing / come adrift.  My problem with the standard Festool magnetic holder is simply that it is just too hard to remove steel bits from the holder using fingers alone - it can be done but is too difficult / takes too long.  The Festool locking bit holder is better but nowhere near as good at the Wera locking bit holder.

I have not yet tried tazprime38's solution but feel that I ought go that route.  Unless Festool or someone else can persuade Wera to make a Centrotec version or their product - that would be ideal.
