Blaklader Pants

I have the middleweight Brawny.

I like the Brawny pants too.  I have the Bantam, they aren't bad when you want  light weight pants.  I have a pair of heavy worker pants but they are too heavy for me.  My favorite was the poly-cotton blend Roughneck, unfortunately they have been discontinued. [mad]

I work mainly indoors so I prefer the Bantams.  I do have a pair of the roughnecks and if they still made them, they would be right up there in my favorites.  Here's a little video I did on the Bantams...

How do these compare to the duluth trading offerings?

I just picked up a few pairs of the firehose pants. Some seriously tough material, I expect them to last a loooooong time.
Forgot to add the knee pads, but more or less the same system as the blakaders

I've never tried the duluth pants, do they offer utility pockets.  The utility pockets, knee pads, quality and price are what sold me on the blakladers. I still have 2 pair that are 3 years old that I still wear to work.  The Bantam's are their lightest weight pant they offer. I find them plenty tough for what I need and Blaklader offers heavier weight fabrics that are super tough.

Post some pics and your impressions on the Duluth pants.

Here's one the firehose type pants duluth pants
and here's the "handy pack" (Tool pouches and knee pads)

Or the knee pads can be purchased individually as well. I haven't tried the pack or knee pads yet.

The pants seem extremely tough, the much touted "hidden crotch gusset" I must admit is quite nice as it gives a bit more room and flexibility. The additional fabric where the knee pads go definitely add additional wear even if you don't get the knee pads. Because they're so heavy duty, they are heavier than typical pants. Haven't had them for long, but will report back/or answer any q's.

Sizing (for me) seemed fairly true to size.

I have a pair of the flannel lined on the way as well.

(also lots of free shipping coupons floating around too btw/** apparently also some 20% off)

I don't have any of the Duluth pants but I do have some of their other products.  The sweatshirts are my favorites.  Overall I'm pleased with the quality of their products.  I do wish the Blaklader pants had that hidden crotch gusset.

We wore the Blaklader Tough Guy painter pants alot this year. And we have also worn Armed Workwear painter pants alot over the past couple of years. Both have insertable kneepads, lots of pockets and are really good.

Check out the drill hanging off my Blakladers.

Scott, you going for a record, three links to your site in one post.  There's no question you've got some good info on your site, but how about adding some meaningful content to this site without pimping yours.

No records for me, Brice. I'm pretty good at contributing original meaningful content.

I will go through the image posting tutorial that Peter has posted so that I can post pictures. It has been easier thus far, as a new contributor, to post links. I will learn to post pictures here with commentary more specific to the discussions at hand, which will reduce the need for links.

Funny, I got the same feeling a couple of posts ago.

And three more times when you quoted him!

I want a pair of work pants with more of a "straight cut", (not so baggy,) but in a lighter wieight fabric.
Blakladers have their Bantam, but they are huge.  Bjornklader has the Ace, but it's a 12oz duck material.

Ideally,  would have a straight to slim cut in a 8-9 oz fabric, with double knees and no metal rivets.

Has anyone tried the Job Man pants?

I would love to know what people thought about cut, breathability, weight, etc.

Have you looked at true Bjornklader Jubilee pants?  I believe they're lighter in weight!  They're def slimmer than blaklader pants.

Some curiosa:
Both Blaklader and Bjornklader (mentioned in this thread) are Swedish brands.

The original names are:
Blåkläder  =  Blue clothes
Björnkläder  =  Bear clothes

As is JOBMAN.

"JOBMAN Workwear was established in Sweden in 1975 and has a long pedigree in outstanding garment manufacture. For many years JOBMAN designed and produced for other companies such as the Swedish Forestry Commission, Jonsered, Husqvarna and SAAB, as well as other respected and well-known brands."

The range of JOBMAN garments available in the US is broader than the other two Swedish brands so there are more less expensive options. The apples to apples garments are pretty much the same price among all three brands.

I didn't see anything that said exactly where the garments are made...

I really like the JobMan line of workwear.....never seen them before.  Thanks
