Blaklader Pants

I tried a few brands, and about a year ago i discovered Engelbert Strauss
I ordered a set of the brown ES motion type pants, vest shirts and sweaters, i really like the looks of them and the fact that you can pick your own colors and make your own "corporate style"
It's a German brand and the quality is unbelievable, been wearing the same pants and vest for a year and there is literally no wear.
Not available in the states though!

I just ordered a pair of jobmanusa  pants. The new floor layers $122.00. They look just like the Bjornklader ace carpenters. But lighter fabric. Will have them in 10 days and will do a review of them.

The ace carpenters are nice pants. Little heavy in summer but ok  but love um better then Bjornklader  so I will update

Kreg,
How did the jobmanusa pants work for you? I'm looking to replace my blakladers because the knee pads keep sliding to the side on me when I kneel. I'm probably going to get a pair of bjornkladers and a pair of duluth fire house but I wanted to examine all options.
Thanks!

The Bjornklader are much better regarding fitment of the knee pads. I had the same issue with my blaklader pants and they rarely get use!

After watching this video I decided to try out a pair of the Blaklader's and had arguably my WORST ordering experience - EVER!

I could not find a pair in my size at ANY of the online retailers they list. In some cases (I've forgotten which) I couldn't even select a size at all - it was almost like there was nothing behind the main page? Many sites only went up to a 40 waist size. If only...

Then I tried supposed local dealers. ACME Tools doesn't even list the brand on their site?! Ferguson doesn't give ANY information unless you have an account with them. I don't, but I buy stuff from them maybe every couple of months.

As a long-time marketing veteran I have to give them a D- on availability or ability to purchase. WOW - and I don't mean that in a good way!

I feel like I just lost an hour out of my life.

OH - wanna know the final insult? I tried to let them know about my experience, but their contact form made me fill out all of this information then did nothing when I hit ‘submit’.

FRUSTRATING!!!!!!

Might be a great product, but right now I am certainly not impressed. Good grief, Charlie Brown - couid they make it any harder or more frustrating to buy their product?

I can't imagine how...

10 seconds on ace tool or tool nut finds multiple blaklader styles and sizes

Perhaps - but try to find the Grey/Black 9499 in a waist size over 40". I just checked AGAIN to see if I had messed up? Nope - Not there...

Toolnut... 10 secs...in my cart (42).  Their website goes up to 48.  I'd call about availability and lead times anyway.

Yes, that one seems to work. I swear I tried it earlier and it didn't...

Still, ONE working site out of what  - eight? - isn't a good showing?

I suppose one of the nuts saw this thread and addressed the issue on their site.

I'd guess Blaklader's initial success is falling off with the increased competition and fewer stores are carrying much stock, if any at all.

I own a set of Blaklader pants and really like them. Keeps everything handy. Got them locally at an electrical wholesaler.

I got an email from them and I had to post an update.

Here's a snippet of what I received:

"I am very frustrated to hear about your frustrations.  I do not feel this is a true representation of our company as a whole and YES, I want you to try our pants.

This pant is not available in a 44 at this time.  We will have it in a few months if you would like to wait for the size."

It goes on with an offer of a substitute pant that they DO have, and details on sizes, etc. It was all very professional, but most importantly was signed:

"Marcus Carlberg
President North America
Blåkläder Americas LLC"

The President of the Americas responded himself?! How often does THAT happen?

Hint: Never!

I wrote back to tell him how impressed I was that HE responded personally. We had a nice email exchange, and I now have a DIFFERENT pair of Blåkläder pants on their way to me.

My attitude about this company is 180 degrees from what it was on Saturday. If their product is as good as their customer service, I will be TRULY impressed!

I am glad this is working out.  I have a couple of pairs of Blaklader pants and a pair of Skillers.  For me, the Skillers are more comfortable when using knee pads than the Blaklader.  My complaint about both of them is that the fabric is much too heavy for summertime wear in Arkansas.  Yeah - I know, it sounds like a personal problem and I freely admit that it is. ;)

Glad it's working out for you to get your size. IIRC, Blaklader is phasing out all of their older style knee pad pants and slowly bringing each line up to date with the longer pad like in their newer 1600 pants. My guess is that they're trying to dump what they have as current inventory before bringing new lines over.

Just a hunch!

Steve:
Have you tried the bantam (1630) 6oz work pants?

I have several pairs of both Blaklader and Bjornklader pants. The only US importer I've found for Bjornklader is Faceline. I like both brands but would be much happier if Blaklader used tubular webbing instead of the flat webbing that ends up fraying after some use. Bjornklader got it right in this regard.

Epic, J & R Distributors out of Mass also sells Bjornklader workwear. Richard is awesome to work with. He also had presence at JLC New England last year.

Good to know. I'll have to check out their website as I'm on the left coast. :)

That probably works better for you as I believe Faceline is out of the Northwest!  I'm on the other left coast!
