I have finally had a little time to get back onto my house and do some work!  I have started the build of my kitchen and made a couple of units!   Any way!

I have been looking at some tool jigs to make it easier!

I need a tool for me to drill the holes for the euro hinges!

I have been looking at the Blum jig and the CMT their the only two I have found which I think are any good. I have seen other but seem cheap lol  I was wondering if any one has used the CMT and if it's any good or is the Blum better?

I'm leaning towards the Blum jig but it ain't easy to find a retailer who sells them in the uk.

Axminster sells the CMT but in two separate pieces for some reason very odd!

i dont know much about those jigs but they should be good quality.
have you considered the lr 32 system. it will do this for you and a lot more

I have the Blum and like it very much. You can adjust how far from the edge, clamp it and drill it.
I don't see much you can do with the CMT.I think you need to do your own set up?

Looking at the pictures, looks to me that the CMT drills all the holes at the same time as opposed to the Blum you drill one hole at the time.  You will need a good hand drill or a drill press.
With the Blum you can use a cordless drill if you have to.

Lr32 I have looking at but for doing euro hinger how will the Lr32 help?  I dont kno but it would be more hassle I think making a simple jig would be quicker and easier no?  I have in the past made a jig out of ply but I rather have a proper jig

the  lr 32 would be a pain to set up just fot euro hidges but i thought that when you are building your own cabinets any way it might be worth it.
i would love a stand alone euro hindge jig but cant afford it  yet

Agree with JIMBO,more time to set up with the lr32.The jigs are fast and accurate.

Yeah that's what I though about the CMT looking at it.  I think the CMT would be good for work shop and you have it setup and make your own stops even stops for a middle hinge on a larger door with a power drill and make a leaver so you can leave the drill running and use the leaver to pull it down as it does the pilot holes and the large 32mm hole all in one go.

Blum you have to do them individuallydont you.  How far can you set them from the edge?  I ain't found any videos of a close up on the Blum and how to set it up only people using it on YouTube.

Yeah sorry cus I was on about euro hinges I thought u was just suggesting it for that.  Yeah for the holes for shelves would be great but I'll be only drilling  12holes in each cabinet like howdens units they only have 3settings of height adjustment with the shelves.  Might be a excuse to buy the lr32!  I just spend 800 on some tools is week and 400 the other week more money!

JMB There are setting for  2,3,4,5,6,7,and 8mm from the edge. And yes you do drill one hole at the time.It has a clamping device to keep it from moving. And comes with 2 bits to connect to the cutters. They are torx.

Cheers,

Are the bits easily replaced?  What drill bits do you need? Are they a special type to fit the jig?  Cus the blum jig ain't sold at many places in the uk  so getting the cutters could be hassle but if it fits any cutters then that would be mint

JMB The bits can be replaced, also the 35mm bit can be adjusted for how deep you want to go.The 8mm bits are set standart.
I think that i can get replacement from amazon.com,and i also can get them from my local  distributor.
I never had to replace the bits so i don't know how difficult it is,but i am pretty sure that it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out.

I use hettich's version:

It works well, only thing I don't like about it, is getting the waste out, I always feel like a trompetist when moving the pistons up and down trying to get the stuff out of the jig after drilling the holes.
Würth's version is the same, but I think that one's more expensive (I'm not sure, I haven't asked for the price, but every time I got something from them, it turned out to be something they rebranded and and put a hefty markup on the price of the original)

+1 for the Blum. As long as you follow the literature it is almost impossible to screw up. Haven't replaced the bits yet… but I can tell you from experience they are sharp.

This is JMB we're talking about right?  Next week we'll hear how he bought the lr32 sys, Blum Eco, another cms setup…;)

I have the Blum and works well.  I bought it from Sommerfeld before he start making his own product.

That looks like a beast! Again don't think I can get that in the uk. The 8m drill bits look like they can be adjusted indepentatly. Don't see it coming in use with me but could be handy for other branded hinges maybe.
