Boat sanding top layer of paint

Guys anybody have any suggestions for removing boat paint from fibreglass.
A mate of mine has bought a 23' sail boat & has been using a random orbit (not sure which one) but with discs from B&Q (Diy), he says that the discs loose their cutting edge after 5 min use.

Andyman  I have been using Brilliant, Saphir and Granat for my bottom paint removal and bottom preps. The Granat has been the best choice so far for me, I prep with 80 gritmost times

Thanks my mate was using 120 & said to him to go to 80 or possibly 60 grit, although thought 60 may be to severe

60 is much to severe for fiberglass and gelcoat
