I have made myself a boom arm for my CTL Midi using a systainer, the Professional cleaning set D 27 / D 36 P-RS (492390) and some second hand stainless pipes.

The systainer stores my cleaning set and also acts as a jig for the pipes of the cleaning set to build the boom arm.

The only extra parts I needed are shown below.

1. A MDF bottom plate to connect the stand.

2. Hose connecting setup.

3. Stand / Table leg; already mounted to the MDF bottom plate.

And there you are, a low-budget boom arm using the pipes you will not use when working the festool machines.

Awesome idea!  I might have to copy this idea.  Great first post and welcome to the FOG! [thumbs up] [thumbs up]

Really well done!  I like it for it's simplicity and reuse of existing components!

Where did you get the table leg for the base?  And I wonder if you secured the MDF to the bottom of the Systainer with glue?

wow great job.
welcome to the forum

i have thought about making something like this with articulating parts that colapsed into the systainer but i never went any farther than my head. the use of standard parts is great

Welcome to FOG and thanks for sharing this awesome idea . So simple but I would never have thought of it .

Thank you all!

I did indeed connect the MDF bottom to the systainer, using four screws. The table leg I got from my local DIY-shop.

Keep It Simple Stupid!

I am now working on a set of parallel guides.

Welcome to the FOG.
Thanks for sharing such a simple but effective solution to the boom arm on the road problem.
Brilliant.

Did you remove the plastic bit on the table leg to increase the air flow?
Or is the suction not effected?

I don't use the vacuum tubes as such in this setup. Although you could extent the tubes directly into the dust extractor.
With three adapters I connect the standard vacuum hose to the vacuum tubes, functioning only as a boom.

Hi,

Welcome to the FOG!  [smile]

That is slick and it all fit sinto the Systainer for transport  [thumbs up]
