I'll let you know my rollercoaster experience trying to get the plunge base for my Fein.
I wanted a corded oscillating tool to use a plunge base, that was my whole goal. I didn't want a Vecturo and another battery line. I have a Dewalt battery system invested and am not branching out with Festool batteries.
To begin, I had a nice Fein Starlock Multimaster FMM 350 START QSL set, that came with an orange systainer set. I read some threads about people getting the Plunge Base for Festool Vecturo OSC 18 (Item# 203254) to work.
The OSC-A adapter mounts fine to the tool to accept the accessories, HOWEVER there are no long 2 3/4" Starlock plus blades! Big issue. You will have to use a regular length blade and half plunge it past the magnet, then start it and work. If you start it, the magnet on the plunge base will suck in the blade and do all sort of nasty stuff. The only long blades that I know exist are Starlock Max, which does not fit the MM350. Great, I bought it for nothing (for my purpose).
I have tried to buy an aftermarket adapter to use aftermarket universal blades but the adapter makes the blade stick out 1/4" at least last the magnet making that useless.
I have bought some 1/8" steel and made my own longer magnet bracket. This worked but the adapter failed immediately.
The blade on start up (even thought it was tight) sheered the little ball nubs holding the blade so it just rattled around making metal shavings. The inside of the starlock fitting was also very hot and there were metal shaving in there so I think the fit was bad there as well. I did not risk using this as it was garbage.
So in the end I put the old plunge parts back to original, sold my 350QSL at a loss, bought a MM700 Max and everything works great. Very expensive tool though.
