I was about to order a CT 26 when I reread a FWW review of shop vacs. They recomended the Bosch 3931A over the CT and their tests indicated a much greater flow rate. Has anyone tried the Bosch?

Thanks

Based on specs alone, we have 7 more CFM than the Bosch. Also, the HEPA filter is optional, not standard.

Do you have a link to that review?

Just to be clear, the HEPA filter is not included with the Bosch, all Festool vacs come with a HEPA filter.  Shane, I think the op might be referring to the article in which the filter bag was removed from the Festool vac.......

One of my supply houses is a Bosch dealer among other things. (N. Turek & Sons) They have a huge Bosch display and pretty much every Bosch you can get in NA. At some point last year when I was contemplating a 3rd CT I checked out the Bosch Vac at the store. (Then along came the refurb sale, Thank You Festool).
It didn't seem like a bad Vac. I remember there were a few things I liked about it and a few things I didn't. Sorry I just don't remember what was what. While I was checking it out, one of the staff mentioned something about it they didn't like about it from using it. Sorry I can't be more specific.
What I do remember though that the vac didn't provide any compelling reason to buy it instead of another CT.
Hope that helps.

Just to be clear, the CT AutoClean does not have a HEPA filter, so not all. But thanks for clarifying that, Brice.  [wink]

And, good call on that article. I had forgotten about it. Here's a link to a thread on the topic, Mark: http://festoolownersgroup.com/festool-tools-accessories/fww-vac-review

Basically, they decided to use the CT without a bag in it, resulting in a clogged filter and lose of suction. The CT is not intended to be used without a bag.

Thanks for all the helpful responses. The thread Shane directed me to addresses the exact article I read.  I still like FWW and usually get something out of it.  I pulled out that old copy (2011) just for that article. I'm glad I posted my question. Thanks.

Wow. I had missed that whole 'test it without the bag deal'.

Now I am wondering if I need to redo my RO90 testing to allow for usage with no abrasives, as they are an added cost that some people may avoid.

[eek]

Seriously, though, using a vac without a bag is just a big fat step back to the old days of shop vac suckery.

Yes. I have one. It's a good vacuum. The test in the article was stupid.
There are some good and bad things about it but it does work or should I say it does suck.
It really should have been compared to the 36 because of it's size.

The Bosch vac is a rebranded Starmix (German company). They're used by many powertool brands such as Spit, Hitachi, Metabo, Mafell, Bosch, ...

There's also a systainer dock available for that model. You'll probably have to look hard to find it but the easiest to find will likely be the Metabo one.

Just on CT26 v CT36 ... for my specific home shop use, going 26 when I could go 36 seemed silly.
