Bosch Extractor Problem -electrical fault?

I still have a small Bosch extractor kicking around that I replaced because it wasn't working properly and I'd outgrown its capacity.

However recently I could do with a lighter second extractor, so I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of trying to find out what's wrong with it and ultimately repair it?

The problem is when it's running on its own it sucks at full power, but when a tool is plugged into it and uses the autostart feature, the tool runs at full power but the suction is dramatically reduced. Could it be something simple like brushes or something more complex?

Problem is, when it comes to electronics I'm a really simple thing too [big grin]

But yeah, might as well improve my knowledge in this area and a vac that was previously destined for the skip is probably a good place to start.

Thanks for your suggestion I can look at the PCB when I pull it apart.

Anyone got any other ideas what it could be or add another vote for the autostart board?

I like electronics, and I also understand them.
But getting a shock is not overly difficult when you are into the exposed guts of a tool.

So I usually use neoprene gloves if I have any doubts as well as an RCD/GFI strip.

In this case, if you have any doubts whatsoever, then I would suggest bring it to somewhere that does this stuff professionally.
