Brilliant 10 packs missing in action

Can anyone tell me why 10X packs of Brilliant in 125 and 150mm are available to 180 grit, miss 220 and 240 (which are 100 only) and resume at 320?

You would assume 240 grit in small quantities would be popular with wood craftsman and DIY.

Yes I know some dealers sell broken up packets.

Brillant 240 is perfect for sanding hard wall joint here and there around the house, so I actually use alot of the stuff. Anways, 10 packs are so much more expensive per sheet that they are pointless if you ask me.

As a hobbyist, 10 packs are very pointful to me. The larger 50 or 100 packs are way too expensive for me and it will take me ages to completely use one.

When I have a job to do I usually buy 1 or 2 packs of 10 and be done with it.

I guess Festool only offers certain grits in 10 packs because they thought those are the ones that would sell best.

Not really over, since the OP is on the wrong continent...

Or conversely, maybe he's on the right continent, and it's Bob that's on the wrong one. Who knows! [huh]

LOL... wrong continent...

My understanding from Festool's side is that it just became too difficult to figure who wants what to offer 10-packs of everything available.  What about custom sets?  What about mixing families of abrasives?  Just instantly becomes a logistical nightmare... which when passed down to the dealer level... isn't quite so bad to handle.

Like Bob, we at K-119 also offer up 10-packs of whatever you want which has turned into a real treat for our clients on note of convenience and flexibility.

Hope this helps :)

That's news to me Phil.  I was just in K119 the other day and wanted to get some granat for my ro90 and rt400 in the finer grits(220 to 400) but ws told they only come in boxes of 100 and I could not get smaller amounts.

Can I buy smaller amounts of various grits?

I also came in and tested the ls130.  Thanks for making it available. Dust collection was poor at best when sanding casings and base boards that I brought in that I use in my properties.  I was not able to use enough of the profile pad so the holes could not collect the dust.  Maybe if I made custom pads for all my moldings it might do better but I have my doubts.

Thanks Craig

Thanks for pointing out the right continent, Johnny. I know John made an honest mistake and at least he did not confuse us with Austria as I have heard too many in North America attest.

It is great that dealers such as Bob and K19 and my own dealer down here sell broken packs in lots of ten or even individually. However why should they have to do so? For many the finish required prior to first coat of paint, shellac, varnish and oil is somewhere between 180 and 400 grit. So why does Festool rely on the good will of some dealers to supply small quantities of a significant grit.

As Credy says he uses a lot of 240. So does Alex and I and a whole lot more of DIY and small production artisans and craft persons. But we do not need 100 sheets within units of ten in our sanding sequence sets. There are similar problems with higher grades which would perhaps inconvenience professionals.

Festool should rethink this, and not rely on dealer goodwill. [unsure] [wink]

Ya know, I did see a guy (now apparently was you!) trying out the LS130 last week!  You might've seen me running in and out of the warehouse (think I sold a CT Midi amongst other Festool goodies that day come to think of it).

I'll talk to our staff.  Granted selling 10-packs of any is a relatively new thing for us, I've instructed more than enough times to our guys that anybody who still says "sorry, only boxes of 50 or 100" needs a serious talking to.  Again, I apologize for the inconvenience.  How embarrassing... I feel terrible that it's one goof up after another.

If I may ask of you, next time you stop by please ask for me and I'll take care of you personally.  We're not commission-based so this isn't a sales-pitch or anything of that nature.  It's just an intention, a gesture to right too many unintended wrongs.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to learn and grow.

Actually, I hardly use 240 grit. I just said I appreciate the 10 packs very much, and I fully support the idea that all grits and types should be available like that. But since I mostly sand painted wood, my needs stop at 180. Sometimes when the job calls for it I use finer paper like 320 or 400, but very rarely 240. I have a dealer close by who sells Brilliant by the sheet, so I got some 220 just in case it might come handy, but it's mostly untouched yet.

How widespread is the dealer network in Australia? If you look around you might find some dealers who are willing to sell you paper by the sheet or their own made 10 packs. I'm lucky where I live, there are so many dealers around, not all of them are willing to sell beyond standard box quantities (most aren't), but a few are, and that's sufficient for me to get what I need in the quantaties I need.

You just need to find them. Look around and when you see a tool store you don't know yet, have a look at their inventory, you never know what you'll find. Or through the internet of course. Do you have an Australian eBay or CL equivalent? Lots of stuff to find there. Private people cleaning up their shelfs can be a great source. I found 100 various sheets for the DX93 and 50 sheets of Titan for the RO150 last week for only 20 euro.

Sorry if I miss represented you, but at least we appear to be on the same page.

As I have said previously I can get individual discs, (in fact getting some tomorrow), but my issue is Festool packaged 10pkts.

Anyway enough said, obviously " flogging a dead horse" here! [wink]
