The plastic piece (the depth adjust lock)  that is part of the plunge selector on my Domino DF 500 broke off yesterday, is there a drawing that shows how this part is attached and can i get instructions for buying a new piece and installing it?

Thanks,

Jack

Call Festool service, they will take care of you fast and easy.

Thanks Brice, I'll call them tomorrow.  I just wanted to see if anybody else experienced this to help decide weather it's a do it your self fix or if it's off to the UPS store for shipping.

I recall looking at that component a short while ago for another thread. I am pretty sure it is not a user-serviceable replacement. The interior pin needs to be removed, but I cannot tell what holds it in place. It may be a pressed pin.

Thanks Rick,  I kinda guessed that may be the case.  Looks like it time to hunt up a shipping box.

After calling Festool repair and taking a closer look at my DF 500,  I realize that the only thing broken on my machine is the plastic cap on the fence post!

I'll remove this post later today!

There is no reason to remove the original post. It would just cause confusion. Even though you figured out your answer, it was still a valid question. P.S. only a moderator can remove the whole thread. That's why it would cause confusion.

Oh, P.P.S. Glad you got this figured out.

And to add to what Rick said, a member can delete his/her posts, but the first post in a thread can't be deleted.  As Rick said, if it could then it would cause confusion.

Glad to see you got it figured out!

Thanks guys,

It was sure surprising when a small piece of black plastic fell out of my Domino Joiner.  I looked at it and never seen that it came from the top of the fence post!  Oh well,  all is well in my shop again and I can get back to building my table.

The cap on the top of the fence post isn't terribly critical. It is what prevents the fence from  being completely removed from the tool. A couple of Australian members here deliberately removed theirs to allow them to raise the fence higher than normally permitted. However, it is almost impossible to remove them without breaking the little tab that holds them in place. So once they get removed, you can't put them back on later.

Because I have a spare fence for my Domino, I did remove these stops on the older fence just for my own education. That's how I know that they will likely break when you purposefully try to remove them. As for the increased fence height, it really isn't that big of a difference because the height clamp still needs to clamp on the post. So it adds very little for the risk.

Oh, why is it risky? Because if you pick up your Domino by the fence handle and the fence isn't locked, then the main body (motor) is going to drop on the floor.  [scared]
