So I'm helping a friend with completing his upcoming granddaughters cradle.  The cradle is meant to be broken down and I've broken a screw off.  I'm sure it'll need to be drilled out.  Any other suggestions?

Thanks, made a trip to the hardware store and wala!  Thanks again.

try catching the end of it with a vice grip . gouge out around it if you cant get a good grip

If you can center punch the screw and use a small left hand twist drill to remove.
The left hand drill should bite the screw enough to unwind it from the hole

cutting wheel in a dremel to cut a slot in the end and try using a flathead screwdriver to get it out.

Do you guys have Easy Outs over there ?

That'd be my approach.

That would be my first suggestion.

I have a set that helped me a number of times, anytime I needed it it worked.

Also done the Dremel trick a couple of times, it can also help.

Hi

Drill a hole, punch a torx bit in to the hole and screw it out. It has worked for me a few times.

i have 2 set of them and they are usless
what type have you

I really liked the dremel idea but I went with the screw extractor.  The bit I used to drill the hole was 5/64th... it was small but the extractor did the trick.  Thanks for all suggestions.  There's a picture of the my success at the top of this posting.

Just a no name type, like what Blackberry used and shows in the updated picture in his first post.

Only the drill bits that came with it don't work, so I use some good 2 or 3 mm metal bits to drill the pilot hole and then put the extractor in.

They've saved me from nasty situations like broken titanium brake disc bolts in very expensive wheels. To me they're worth their weight in gold. I thought the brand was actually "Ezy Outs" (I could be wrong ... too late to check the toolbox, I'm tucked in bed!)
