Building a tall cabinet question

I am thinking about building a cabinet...at about 6 feet tall and one large door for the front.  This cabinet will be for the garage and also when I pull on the handle the whole inside will pull out, kinda like a modern style spice cabinet that are getting integrated into kitchen cabinets these days but this one will be about 6 feet tall so I can get things from both sides.  Also it will store things like my pancake comressor and such things.

So the main question here is how many drawer rails would you suggest?  I was thinking 3 sets for weight distribution, top, middle, and bottom for it to easily slide out

Any thoughts on this?

I'm not sure how much you want to spend, but if you have some money to throw at the problem I have used these (and similar products by other manufacturers, these were the first i clicked on) for a few applications.

You can mount these up at the top, and have the load hang between the two.  They can handle the weight with no problem.  By mounting them high (almost at the top if possible), the center of gravity will be below them and therefore the unit will be stable as a whole.  If you mount them low the pull out section will want to flip to one side or the other.

I built a single side mounted pantry cabinet for my shop, similar to what you are saying but smaller.  I would suggest making sure you put slides on both sides, to make it more accessible I only mounted slides on one side, it works fine, but i am starting to see some flex in the slides.

Best,
Daniel

I am curious as to why you want/need a 6ft. tall pull out, but Fulterer USA among others makes a full extension slide (top and bottom) that will handle the weight you want to put in it.

For me to answer these questions, I'd need to know the width and depth of your proposed cabinet, the general weight of the stuff you plan to store in it and if it's going to be fastened to a wall or be a free standing unit?
