I have experience building cabinets, primarily kitchen or garage cabinets.

Now, I have to do some built in cabinets and looking for plans on how to combine the bottom and top cabinets along with how to build them in place.

Does anyone know where to get plans for built ins or related articles for this?  Pictures / Videos are always good [smile]

Yep. Watched parts 2-4 yesterday. Great stuff!

Thanks for posting. And after my shower I am all good. ;)

Thanks for all of the advice and some good articles on the net.  Just a side note but Kreg's website has good articles on this.

It appears that most built ins require face frames which I have not done before .. I have quite a bit of experience in the frameless though.

My question is how do you get the face frames to line up so precise?  For example along the sides you have to be really precise to get the width just right.  I know you can use a flush trim bit but not able to get in the corners?

Also, any tips for cutting the trim around the top of the cabinets?  It looks like a lot of small pieces to make up the trim?

Thanks again!

WOW, I'm struggling with the same thing.  I was going to build them all separate then install like a kitchen.  Some of these options look better.

My question is attaching a face frame to the whole set up.  Is this done after they are installed?  I really don't want to nail them form the front

Look at using tongue and grove, biscuits, maybe dominoes, or pocket screws from the inside and plug if needed.

It depends, there are 2 trains of thought, one is you build the face then the box to match it, the other is you build box then te face frame. Lots of ways to install them, one is to domino them, another is to face nail them then stain and fill the holes with a crayon, another os to pocket hole  the outside of the cabinet and attach the f/f.

I use Sommerfeld's tongue and groove bits to attach the face frames and boxes.  I make the face frames first, then attach the sides, top, bottom.  I use only glue to hold the face frame to the boxes.  I have made cabinets 8' tall and 36" wide like this.  Here is a photo of a bank of 5 cabinets for a master bedroom closet.  I used ML Campbell primer and lacquer for the finish.  The insides of the drawers are solid poplar then waxed two coats with Briwax.
