Finally got the builtin, bamboo cabinets, wine racks and picture frame all photographed so thought I would share. Project started with the painted built in. Box's were all prefinished maple ply boxes. Fronts and side were mdf as requested by customer so they could paint. Slides and doors were all touch release for opening. Next came the bamboo cabinet, again all boxes were prefinished maple ply, cut 1/8 strips of bamboo lumber for all edges and sprayed with General finishes waterbourne enduro var which was real nice to spray. Built in wine rack and wine rack from left over ply was all bored out using the LR32 system with 1/2 up spiral bit. Used regular 1/2 powder coated spindle for the grid. Closers and slides were all soft close. Glass door panel was a fine microdot finished glass. Finally customer had an old Japanese painted scroll that a friend did 40 years ago. Cut and routed the pagola stile frame from bamboo lumber. Note the tapered sides to finish the look. Then used a black water based stain, sprayed with enduro var, sanded thru to antique and show more of the bamboo before spraying final coats.
customer liked it all so much that now I will do the kitchen over the next few months.

thx for looking

yes, all 100lb touch release. fitted blumm tipons for the doors and removed the nylon spring mechanisms from the hinges to make doors lighter on opening.

Really well done.  Love the bamboo ply.

Where did you get the black rods for the wine cabinet?  Looks like they might be powder coated.

Neil thx they are just you regular powder coated spindles for inside your home stairs. Actually was willing to pay $7 each for them but found a hole bundle with texture finish at re-store for $2 each.

thx

Really like the bamboo.
Starting to think that bamboo is the new "green" material.
Looks great and is sustainable. (grows like a weed)

great job.... love bamboo also have not made cabinets yet but have done some floors.... thanks for sharing

It is a very hard material, I think I had the most fun cutting out the door and back of the picture frame. Tried cutting out agains't the cutter on router table with a bearing guided rabbet bit but it just peels the edge even with shallow cuts. Ended up climb cutting the backs with small cuts, no problems then. Material does sand and spray real nice.

thx
