Hi,

I can't find the size of the shoulder on
Half-round cutter HW shank 8 mm HW S8 D30/28
All sites I went to so far just say the total NL (Nomonal Length) size is 30 mm none says what is the incut size - 24, 20...? Radius is 12 they say, so can I assume that the cut away size will be 12 x 2 = 24?

Anybody can help?

Thank you

Assuming you are referring to Order number 491139, here is the stock photo of the cutter, superimposed on a 1mm grid. Although the photo was taken at a slight angle, a good idea of the cutter's dimensions can be obtained using this method, but all dimensions are necessarily approximate.

Note that despite it's name, it's not a full half-round cutter. I reckon that there are 4mm shoulders top and bottom, meaning that only 22mm thickness of the material is cut away in a curve, not 24mm like you'd get it it was a full half-round cutter.

The cutter is described as being ideal for 28mm thick material. On 30mm thick material, you'd have 4mm shoulders at the top and bottom. On 22mm material you'd have no shoulders, and on 28mm material you'd have 3mm shoulders.

This helps

Thank you much

P.S. Do you know by any chance - Festool probably might have a catalog with this sort of explanations flying around, did you come across something like that?

Glad you liked it!

No, I'm afraid that I didn't find any detailed dimensioned drawings from Festool - just what's in the catalogue. It would be a great idea though!
