Hello!  Looking to the veterans for some buying advice. This summer I have a big Project, to renovate 32 old wooden windows frames + sash in my house. Because of this, I thought to buy some real good Tools. :-) (Is really tired of mediocre Tools)

Step one: (Paint removal Frame + sash & New deeper putty rabbit on sash)

CLEANTEX CTL 26 E SD E/A + (Ultimate Dust Deputy or long Life ?)
ROTEX RO 90 or ROTEX RO 125 ?
OF1010 or OF1400 or OF2200 ?
MFT/3 + MFT/3 Basic
IR-Paint remover (Non Festool)

Step two: (Manufacture some new windows sashes)

CMS-OF
CMS-TS 55 or CMS-TS 75 (+TS55 or TS75)
MFT/3-VL or CMS-GE
KAPEX KS 120 EB
Hammer A31 (Non Festool)

Is it a good list of tools or I have thought wrong somewhere ?

Grateful for all the advice and tips, it will be quite a big investment,  but the option to let a craftsman to do the job costs about 25 000 Euro ! (I am based in Scandinavia (EU)).

We have sash kits available here in the US.  Not sure if this will work for your application and if they are available where you live.  The sash kits are very easy to install and provide a better product.

As far tools,  I would definitely recommend the ro90 for window work.  It's small size and the delta head get in to tight spots.  I would also recommend the larger ro125. Both sanders will be used a lot.

I would go with the of1400 beings it's a good all around router.  It includes 3 collets making it very versatile.

The rest of your tool list looks good.    The dust deputy will void the warranty of you ct vacuum.

Why do you want to put a new deeper rabbit on the sash? If you can post a picture of your window frames and sashes.

I think you will find that creating a steam box and putting the windows in it will help with removal of the old paint and putty. You will need some scrapers. I really like the Bahco ones for detail work. You may also need some epoxy filler to fill in any cracks or rotten wood. You will need clamps, many different sizes based on the size of your windows.

A Cleantex or any CT will be a good idea. You may want to get more than one before you are done. I like the Ultimate dust deputy as it saves on bags.
You will need sanders, the RO 90 and Rotex 125 are a good start. As you progress you may find you need some others as well.

I would get the OF1400 and the OF2200 and put it in the CMS OF. You will need the power to mill the profiles of your new sashes. You will need either a domino (500 and or 700) or a mortising machine and some mortising chisels and a mallet.
You will need a table saw and the CMS-TS 75 will work but you may need to get a more powerful saw with a larger table. I would also get a band saw. Depending on the profile for your sashes you may have to have custom router bits made and you may need to cope some joints and a scroll saw will also be needed.
A Kapex or sliding miter saw is good to have.
If you are going to mill your own stock, the A31 is a good choice.

You are taking on a fairly complex task. Making new sash windows is not easy, but it can be done. I think the tools you have listed are a good starting point but as I have noted you will need more.

Tyler: Thanks for the warning about the Dust Deputy.

Tim: The reason I need to do deeper rabbit  is that I need to replace the window glass from 2mm to 3mm thick in the inner frame. Look at the intersection on the far right in the picture below.

I have several Bahco scrapers whit carbide blade and they are really good. (Bahco is a Swedish company :) )

Many good suggestions, I'll think and read more here on the community before I decide!

Hi, I get a lot of window sash gasket materials from  Conservation Technology. They sell all types of weather sealing solutions for Doors and Windows. Good luck. [smile]

Great Vendor.  Lots of info on their website.  I am a long time customer and don't mind calling to order, but they need to come into the 200's and allow ordering online.

Jonas, if you can follow and read past posts of Ben Brunick on Instagram. You will learn a lot about repairing Windows from his thread. Tons of great information and experience.

If you are interested look up John Leeke. He is an old window restoration expert and has a lot of information.  Also getting a RAS 115 forbwquick removal of paint and wood.

Many thanks for all the helpful tips, I really appreciate it!

(Especially as the investment is so great I do not want to make the wrong decision)

And... I just discovered a flaw in my plan regarding my choice of vacuum cleaner (Festool CTL26). It is not able to be used with Hammer A31, I need a cyclone in the workshop! And if I do not need to use the vacuum cleaner in the workshop the CTL26 may not bee the best choice.

Which cyclone match Festool quality?? (And is available in Europe)

Oneida-Air 2HP V-2000 HEPA Dust Collector 230V ?

If I do not need the vacuum cleaner in the workshop, maybe I should invest in a small mobile vacuum cleaners (CTL mini/midi instead ?
