Greetings fellow Festoolers,
I thought I'd post a follow up on my inquiry about buying Festool online (Acetoolonline post). This was my first largish purchase online so I was a bit apprehensive. I wanted to buy a few items before the March 1 price increase, but I also wanted to get the new T-loc systainers so I decided to so online since my local Woodcraft did not have stock. I first looked at Amazon, as they have Festool and ship no charge to Hawaii. But alas, what I wanted was sold by a secondary dealer. I then tapped the might FOG resource and discovered that some dealers will ship for free to all 50 states. One of them was Toolnut, so I made my purchase of Domino, Domino tenon/cutter set and boom arm for my CT22, and a few small accessories. I received the boom a week ago, the Domino yesterday (which happened to be my birthday-how apropos) and the tenon/cutter set today. Toolnut was out of stock on the Domino and Festool was out of stock on the tenon/cutter set with T-loc that was the reason for the delay. Buying online is simple and easy and also avoids the 4.7% g.e. tax imposed by the state (more or less depending on the state, unless of course you are in the same state as the dealer).
If I were to order again from any dealer online, this is what I would do.
1. Contact dealer to ascertain they have the item in stock.
2. If they have the item, ask how soon can they ship it out.
3. If they don't have the item in stock, and I need it pronto, seek another dealer.
4. Be attentive to the carrier e-mail for eta of item and have somebody home to be on the look out for the item.
