Hi guys.  I'm not new to Festool, (use a bunch everyday as a cabinet installer) but I am new to this forum. So, I may ask some old questions.  Please be gentle!!  I have been trying to adapt spade bits ( also long 1/4" hex screw drives, etc.) for use in my centrotecs, with only some success. Usually involves some time at the grinder, etc.  Any ideas??

Thanks Corwin,  looks like I'm on the right track, just need to refine my methods.

Dan,

Welcome aboard!  It's always nice to have another "Dan" around.    ;D

Regarding spade bits, I guess I'm missing something.    For ball-detent bits like spade bits, take a look at the Festool BHS65 bit holder.  There are some pics about 1/2 way down in this thread:http://festoolownersgroup.com/index.php?topic=703.0.  This has worked well for me.

Regards,

Dan.

Hi Dan,

I've read a lot of your posts, and learned quite a bit...Thanks.  The BH 65 will work for me with driver bits.(not sure how I missed it before)  I use square drive almost exclusively, and the bit always seems to slip out of the mag. holder to stay with the screw; not noticed until after I've already moved on to the next cabinet to be hung!!  I'll have to experiment with the spade bits.
Thanks again for the welcome

Dan

Dan,

Here are a couple of pics of the BH 65 before and after a spade bit is installed:

Thanks, Dan,  I'll order a couple of bh 65's now. I'll let you know how it works out.

Dan,

Yes, please... Report back.  Sometimes things work well; sometimes not.  By reviewing, all of us benefit by learning about a tool's advantages and limitations.

Regards,

Dan.
