Purchased a refurb c15 during the last sale and just let the smoke out.  Anyone else having or had a problem with this drill?  I know a guy locally who had the same problem.  Started to smoke and now just beeps when the trigger is pulled.

Yes, I will be sending in and it will be taken care of...Just curious how often this happens.

I haven't read  much about drills burning up on here so it seems this isn't a problem that many people run into, or if they have they don't post about it here.

Bummer Jon!!

Years ago I owned a C12 that took a 17 foot drop from a ladder to a concrete driveway. It smoked a bit, then just beeped. I sent it in for service and the technician said something about the motor welding itself together? Anyways, I had him fix it and received the drill in a week or so (love that service!!).

That being said, if you bought it and it's beeping and smoking right out of the box, you'd probably be well served to call Festool on Monday and see what suggestions they might have or how they can accommodate your problem. Good luck, and have a great weekend!
Best,
Tom

Had this once with a T15 I bought used. Was trying it out to see how long the batteries would last, so I took a big piece of wood and a box of screws and started driving them in, one after the other in a fast tempo. After about 30 screws the drill started to smell burned, not yet smoking, but on it's way.

I was surprised, because I thought if the drill would become too hot the internal protection would kick in, stop it and start beeping.

Of course I stopped using it so it could cool down. It still works fine, just smells a bit burned everytime  use it.

You're right, hadn't posted about it yet.  [smile]
