C15 or T15. Is there really a torque difference?

I may be returning my new CXS in favor of either the C15 or T15. While comparing the specifications for both models in the new Festool catalog, I find that ALL specifications – except for "max torque in wood" – match exactly. But the listed "wood" torque for the C!5 is 221.2 in lbs, while the T15 is 238.9 in lbs.

Is there really a difference or is this a typo? If it's a typo, which number is correct? If not, why isn't there ALSO a difference in their respective "max torque in steel" specs.?

I have to decide what I'm going to do within the next several days. I'm on the fence as to which style and even a slight difference in torque may land me on the side of the "T."

I don't know if it's a typo or not but for all practical purposes there is no difference in torque. I'd strongly suggest you try out both at a dealer to see how each feels in your hands.

Thanks Brice, I have handled both. To me, the T seemed better balanced. The C was front heavy and naturally wanted to swing downward. However, the C's advantage of having my hand more immediately behind the drill or drive bit might outweigh my perceived imbalance. Unfortunately, the dealer is not set up for demos so I'm left "imagining" how they would be in action.

Sounds to me like you need both drills   

But seriously, I'm sure a good dealer would not have a problem ordering both for you to test out, and then having you only purchase the one you are truly happy with.

I suspect that it's a typo, but would need to confirm. They share the same motor, electronics, etc.

Not sure what configuration you held but using the Centrotec chuck instead of the heavy Jacobs makes a big difference in the nose heavy feel of the C.

Drill for drill in terms of performance I think they are identical. The ergonomics of the C 15 can take some time to get used to, especially when compared to the standard T body. Both have there benefits, and it's just a matter of what feels good in the hand.

Shane, I'll figure it was a typo. Makes sense that all specs would match.

Seth, no chucks were attached to either drill and even "bare", the C would tip down while the T stayed balanced.

When I return to the dealer, I'll bring my own bits and wood etc. Hopefully, they'll let me drill a few holes and drive a few screws with each drill. While I do appreciate the 30 day return policy, the dealer is not close by. So, I'd really rather not take one home, try it and have to make still another trip to exchange it.
