Cabinet Making Suppliers List /Toronto and GTA

Hello all,

I'm a long time reader first time poster and have a question for my local FOG members located in the GTA. I'm a amateur cabinet maker at best and after moving in to our new home I managed to convince loving wife to let me blow the 10k minus the material costs on new Festool, woodpecker and starrett tools instead of sub standard stapled together cabinets. When she agreed I was in heaven! Then reality set in and I realized I need to start getting to it. was wondering if you guys could help out by compiling a list of proper cabinet making suppliers in our area. I realize that many of the suppliers require minimum orders and/or require you to have an account to purchase from. This is not a problem as I have the means to do so.

Hi Aprp. Welcome to the FOG. How did you convince your wife to let you spend money on tools? It's a very slippery slope, especially if you start buying Festool products. They are the best.
As for suppliers, I use Richelieu Hardware. They have just about everything you will ever need they only problem they don't sell to the public. You must reigster a company with them.
For plywood/mdf/etc. I use McFaddens in Vaughan. You don't need to register a company name with them and there are no minimum orders needed. If you pay on pick up they will sell it to you.
Other companies I use are Lee Valley, Busy Bee and Benjamin Moore for paint.
For rough lumber I use Century Mill Lumber in Stouffville, great service and price is comparable to everyone else.

Convincing wasn't that hard when you factor the cost of the material to actually build basic cabinets. I like the euro approach to cabinetry so going with Festool as a system made sense.  I sold all my current woodworking stuff and surplus tools I've collected through the years.  I went through everything and pretty much sold all items that weren't made in USA, Germany and Japan. All of the auto tools where exempt, I had to draw the lines somewhere.  My kitchen isn't big and I have a few space saving ideas that I'm going to try to achieve by building custom cabinets.  Let's hope it works! Yes your right, it is a slippery slope.  I first started with the TS55, CT36, OF1400 and the MFT/3 and an extra rail.  That was last Xmas, let's just say there's been another 4k spent since. Its a bit of an obsession.  I love the stuff!

I've looked at Richileu through there online catalog and McFaddens through there website. The only other place I know to add wood be Wondersosa in Bolton.

Robert bury in Brampton sells sheet goods, HPL and Hettich hardware. You need to have a company to buy but there is no minimum amount.  Unless you are purchasing a large quantity they don't deliver.
Hafele in Burlington is also good for hardware.

Thanks for the other two names Tim.  I have seen Robert Bury trucks driving around the GTA.  I will also take a look at Hafele. This is great!

I am living in South Africa now but used to live in Oakville.  Exotic Woods in Burlington is a good source and sells to the public and has baltic birch and other veneered plywoods as well as a big range of rough and dressed hardwoods.  There is an outfit in London Cabinet- Mart that has a good hardware selection and fast shipping.  They also custom make doors and drawer fronts both finished and unfinished which is nice if you don't want to get set up for making these from scratch.  Unfinished allows you to use the same finish you put on any panels you have so everything matches.
