Cadex Systainer Compressors Available for Pre-order! (US)

Just a thought to ponder: It is interesting that Cadex can figure out a way to get a compressor in a systainer to North America but Festool can't figure a way to get a vacuum pump in a systainer to North America.

I think it's more a question of economics Steve.

Cadex pretty much has a potential customer for everyone that buys one of their nailers and will likely sell a lot of these things to non Festool customers as well as their own nail gun buyers.

Festool Vac SYS has got to be a low volume item and is not really applicable across the entire product line.  I wouldn't use one if you gave it to me for any operation we bill customers for.  I'll wager the amount of non Festool customers that buy a vac sys is pretty close to none.

So, given the UL approval process and cost it's most likely FT feels it's not worth it given sales numbers.

What is the status of these?

The latest information that I got from Cadex was that they were expected to be available some time in mid-to-late May. However, the launch date has been changed a few times, so we temporarily stopped taking orders for them until we had a solid date for our customers.

Perhaps you could get Jamie to return and talk about what the production model actually has in terms of features and looks ?

That is if it's actually in production.  [unsure].

First it was Feb. then March. Now it's late May which I'm sure means June. I understand manufacturing ; and that targets move. But , to be off by two quarters usually means there's a problem with the design - or - marketing sold everyone a bill of goods.

Hi [member=48572]Shane Holland[/member] - just curious if you had any updates on availability on these.  I'd ordered, then cancelled due to delays but would consider it again - it keeps seeming like something I could really use.

Let us know - thanks!

[member=53094]jdm5[/member] the latest info from Cadex is a September availability. But they have also changed the launch date multiple times at this point so we will not take orders until we have them sitting in our warehouse. I will keep everyone posted. Thanks.

Perhaps it's time for Jamie to come back and give us an update.  What's the status on these things ?  Why has delivery been delayed soooooo long ? Projection has been missed three times already and is logging six months.

Was or is this vapor ware ?  I don't think you're doing anyone any favors by dangling a product in front of qualified and market making customers, then stringing them along.  You should NEVER over promise and under deliver.  It's the biggest sin a salesman can make.

Perhaps a realistic pitch should have been made:  " this is a prototype , what do you think ?  If we get enough interest, we'll put it into production. "

It's been a lot longer than the factory thought due to sourcing motor components that are UL and CSA approved. Cadex Systainer compressors are in production now and are shipping in late August with a due date of late September. The two units I have here in Vancouver are great and preform exceptionally. Cheers

Bravo .

Thanks for the update.

So in a nutshell , the impediment was government regulation .

Do we know what the retail cost of these will be?

[member=58821]ben_r_[/member] we were taking preorders at $499 for the 1hp, $639 for the 1-1/2hp.

They were supposed to shop last month, but there have been at least four delays on this project so far.

Might make a nice Xmas gift.

Next year  [tongue]

[member=63097]CadexJamie[/member], can you offer the forum members an update please?

Jamie responded to my email inquiry for an update.

He said the latest information is that they will be delivered to Cadex at the end of October from their manufacturer.

anything they say anymore
Nope, I gave up waiting and got a very nice, much more powerful, with a larger tank, cheaper, super quiet and very light weight California Air Tools compressor and haven't looked back.

Hey Shane , what is Caddx saying is responsible for all the delays?

Not only are they numerous, the length of them is substantial too.

Are these things getting rushed to market as soon as they can be built or are there actual production models being tested out in the real world ?
