Anyone dealing with the new California Lumber tax.  If you think i'am joking here is a link to the official State of California page for info on the 1% tax on lumber.

You would think the state legislators would be encouraging business in the state not making up new dumb taxes that place a financial burden on business.

Punitive.  Why not charge welfare recipients 1% for the privilege
of living off the private sector?

Bob Hope will explain.

That would make sense, but it doesn't seem to be important.

California was ranked as the least business friendly state (#50) in both 2011 qnd 2012. Texas ranked #1 both years.

Lets be careful  where this discussion goes.

Seth

Be careful, Texas, we had a migration from Massachusetts 20 years ago and now we are just like them politically.  Just because they leave Ca does not mean they endorse Texas ways.  Soon, people will be leaving TX, but where will they go?

Earlier Seth sent a subtle reminder to keep this thread on topic.  The original post was asking about a tax on lumber.

Not as subtle - please let's keep it to that and not get into political or other stuff.

Thanks.

Otis, you must live in NH  [laughing]

New Yorker comes to Texas to visit old army buddy,  They drive around the Texan's ranch for a while and the Texan says "You know we could drive all day and still be on my land!"
New Yorker says ""Yeah, I used to have a car like that."

It sounds as though it was the result of the California logging industry seeking to pass their regulatory fees off to consumers, "leveling the playing field" with out of state producers. Unfortunately, it looks as though the real burden is being shouldered by dealers who have to revamp their accounting systems.

The loggers' gravy is that the bill also limits the power of government to recoup the taxpayer costs of fighting wildfires that result from negligent logging practices.

Comments about 'anti-business' taxes and the demographics of welfare are generally a personal opinion versus an experience with a tool or material. IMHO, they have no place here and only create strife. And, I must also say, positions vary widely on this site (I hope).

But, by all means, if your experience with Festool products somehow gives you valid political and social insight feel free to continue.
