I'm trying to imagine under what circumstances i would buy one of those for $1000

When people invest in this sort of stuff from Festool ...

... maybe high end body shops, etc - the relative cost of a few sysports would be negligible.

When time is money and making a custom cabinet for tool storage is something you'd never consider - that's "when" I think!

In an ironic twist after the sysport was collected I got a call asking if I want it at half price....... it has been returned to me this afternoon dent and all and now only $500........

I'll be interested to see how it looks after the panel beating then  [wink]

someone needs to make a bosch extrusion kit that can be sold to members. It can have open sides and back and an mft top!!!! Comes in a box ready for assembly.

Just think about it ---- the FOG Extrusion Sysport!!!!

I would buy a heap of them!!!!

As for my replacement I orders a BS75.........!

Here is my ver - based on inspiration from others on this site. I will create another post with more details once I complete it. But the drawer heights can be adjusted to support different systainer sizes.

Did you ever complete this?  I'd like to see details if so.

Given that so may seem to get damaged, I wonder why we never see them featured in the recon sales?
I have seen them on eBay many times and they usually go for almost new price.

I agree.  If I'm going to pay US$650 for a SysPort, it should come with some foam and on a pallet-base, and arrive undamaged.  Living with damage is not an option in this price range.  Even a $200 dishwasher from Home Depot comes with foam corners and bolted to a wooden base.

I also agree with those who say the SysPorts are too pricey.  I have over a dozen Festool tools, and over 30 Systainers.  I don't mind paying US$70 for a plastic box to hold a tool, I consider that protecting my tool investment, and it makes packing and unpacking a van in New York City much more pleasant.  But $650 for a tin box with 5 drawer glides is beyond what I will put out to stack some toolboxes.

I agree that Festool needs to take a page from appliance mfgs for the SysPorts.
  Foam or cardboard edge moulding
Corrugated pads to cover the large flat surfaces
Bolted or strapped to an appropriately sized pallet.

Rough approximation based on my experience doing specialty moving, it would probably cost me $30-40 to package the heck out of them, not counting the cost of the existing box.

I'd still like to own a few SysPorts myself, but I couldn't even fill one yet.  Shortly, lol, but not yet.  I have to finish remodeling downstairs before I can start upstairs, which is where my "excuse" for a track saw and a Crackpex, I mean Kapex.

Made the "mistake" of trying the Kapex @ woodcraft.  I must have it, yes, I must.

I had a Sysport arrive badly damaged several years ago. Bob Marino had a replacement to me within two days, no questions asked. Since then they have arrived double boxed with lots of padding, and not a scratch.

As for the cost, these things are very well made, heavy gage steel. I would not call them a tin box. Back in 1987 I bought a large Snap-On rollaway tool box for $7500 (not sure what they cost today). Same thing, very well made. I still have it today and it looks and works like new. You get what you pay for.

I never sell any of my tools, and I try to buy best quality. To me they are a lifetime investment.
