Can I use my rotex to polish my marble countertops?

So we decided to get marble counters in our kitchen,  and I'm regretting it already.  I've got scratches, etches, and some stains and we've only had the tops for three months or so.  There's go to be a way to polish some of these scratches and etches with my rotex 125 right?

Any help would be appreciated.

Now two of us need an answer to this question.

Some time later this year, I will need to polish a recycled marble slab for an island kitchen bench that 'senior management' is currently designing.

Rotex 150 and Festool polishing agent is perhaps obvious, but which one?

Also once polished the agent will probably need to be removed, as the marble top will be used in food preperation.

For once, I am finding Festool's literature on it polishes and waxes far from satisfactory in terms of specific use for each specific product.

Do a search for "polishing marble countertop".  Many options pop up, many of which seem to be diamond abrasive- and water-based, as in "messy".  You might see if you can find a small piece of matching material and see how Platin works with it.  Steve Bace has a great set of instructions for polishing solid surface material, and while the abrasive schedule he suggests is right for solid surface materials, but not likely so for stone or cultured stone, the techniques for using Festool tooling are likely very directly applicable.  Why not see if you can pick up a small cut-off of the same material you have and see how Platin works with it.  Same goes for the 5,000 and 8,000 grit liquid polishing compounds used with the hard and soft felt pads on the Rotex once you've used the highest grit of Platin.

Maybe Tom will see this thread.  I know that he has written about the Festool Diamant abrasives.

"This Festool Diamant Sandpaper is a high-performance abrasive for finishing very hard surfaces such as scratch-proof clear coats or composite & mineral materials."

I'm not sure if you meant me, Peter, but Festool Diamant is available in 4 grits - 500, 1000, 2000, and 3000.

It is also available in 150mm diameter or 80mm diameter formats. I will sell an assorted 4-pack of the 90mm diameter format.

One of our members uses Platin to polish the edges of glass tiles after cutting them. The girt on it is silicon carbide.

Yes, you were the Tom.  I didn't see that abrasive on the Festool USA website but did see it on yours.  I thought that you have used it for something with stone.

Peter

I haven't used Diamant yet but I have shaped several pieces of limestone with a Rotex and Saphir.
