Can you BLOW UP a Festool Dust Extractor?

Now Homeland Security won't allow me to take my CT 36 on a plane.  Thanks a for nothing whomever did that video!  [tongue]

Which recon sale is that going to be in?

OK. What does that prove. ???

My truck will also explode if I stick a lit torch down the gas tank filler spout.

Do not put a lit candle in your vac before I use it & it will not explode.

They didn't spend enough time explaining the solution to the problem.  That is the special brushless, antistatic Atex extractor that effectively prevents such catastrophe.

I think we would like to see them actually test it though, wouldn't we?  [tongue] [wink]

I'm impressed... it sounds like the CT keeps running, even after the explosion!  [eek]

I think the point involves situational awareness.  Be aware of all hazards and potential hazards of your work and take appropriate precautions.  I had some friends blow up a shop vac at work a number of years ago with no candle inside.  If I recall correctly, they were using the shop vacuum during a fill and vent process of a generator seal oil system.  They cycled the shop vac several times and on the last time, they experienced a hydrogen explosion internal to the shop vac.  Fortunately no one was hurt (other than their pride) and the shop vac was destroyed.  The seal oil system they were working on is used to keep hydrogen inside a large generator which is used for cooling and was dissolved in the oil.  Drawing a vacuum on the oil system brings the hydrogen out of solution and you know what follows.  Needless to say, they got a lot of ribbing and had nicknames that included the name Hindenberg.

do not put fireworks in your shop vac when you are going to vac explosive material, good tip! (or hydrogen)
even though the vid is most likely genuine, why did we get separate shots of the sucking and exploding. woold have been more effective to show both in one shot and it would leave out suspicions of some kind of manipulation.

the funny part is that the vac doesn't appear damaged, just the clips may be broken.
