CANCELLED - Festool Carvex Jigsaw 2011 Version

I just noticed that Festoolusa.com has pulled the Carvex banner ad/promo from the top of their home page.

As I state much earlier ... So my  money down on the Carvex.... might collect a bit of wood dust.... I still want one.  

I'm with Peter, Festool would not do this without a good reason.

I just hope they soon can share what this NA issues is and issue some estimated time frame... Maybe I go for a new drill sooner than latter...but I will get a Carvex when they come out.

My money is on the strobe LED that makes the blade appear to be stationary.

I give: why in the world would I want the blade to appear stationary?

I got to use the Carvex at a D&D class. The blade appearing stationary makes following the line a lot  easier.

I'm really disappointed in this, but on a serious note, why are we not hearing this announcement from Festool directly instead of the dealer?

I think dealers posting announcements like this puts them in an uncomfortable position, especially one as disappointing as this.

The dealers are the ones that should make the announcement. They are the ones taking the preorders.

The Carvex will be here when it gets here. I was looking forward to getting one, but I am not going to loose any sleep over it.

Kodi, nothing to do with exchange rates. I see nothing in that statement about exchange rates, pricing or demand.

Regarding Festool not making the announcement, we have an obligation to tell our dealers first. We don't want a customer calling a dealer to cancel a preorder, for instance, and getting blindsided because they know nothing about it. Dealers who participate on the forum choose to post information we share in communications to them on the forum. This post was literally made within a couple of minutes of me hitting send. I'm not that the reaction would have been any different if we post this information first. If it upset anyone that we weren't the ones to make the announcement, my apologies.

For those of you who realize the merit in our decision, thank you.

I doubt anyone on this forum is more disappointed that the Carvex will not launch in June than I am. I hope that none of you will be impacted by the decision.

Festool USA - Posting that statement on the web regarding the Carvex takes guts and balls.

Well Done!

Quality of  a product is the result of the quality surrounding it.  The Carvex here will be even better once it arrives.

this is interesting.....i wonder what it is...i assume that there was a large quantity of jigsaws on their way to the states. so what are they going to do with this large inventory of theoretically defective tools.....that are not defective for the rest of the world. it is just curious...are they going to re manufacture the tools that have already met URL? I am very curious......having actually played with one and loved it a great deal...i am dieing to know.

Sorry Peter, but I just don't believe that.  Rather, I expect that, if we do get the saw here, it will be crippled in some way to make it less likely that Festool will be sued over one of these hypothetical "applications specific to North America".

From this side of the pond, we are a little bemused by what has happened with your Carvex launch.

The European Carvex had a few teething problems which were well documented and they were resolved so I would assume the mechanical and engineering aspects of your Carvex should be spot on.

I cannot see the humidity/cold issues being a factor, it gets real cold in central Europe and very humid in Australia

My money is on the LED strobe and the fact that the blade appears stationary!

So I would guess your UL guys believe either you will place your fingers on the blade to see if it is working, or you will spend hours looking up inside the Carvex to go into a strobe induced trance because of the LED's.

All speculation but I cannot see how if it is fit for purpose in the rest of the world it cannot be so in the US.

I really do hope for your sakes it doesn't join the list of NAINA products!

Eeep, glad I went on vacation for a bit and this announced before I get back.  I was all set to sell my Trion in anticipation of the Carvex.  I literally had a buyer likely next week.

I, for one, sleep better knowing that I have the UL vigilantly protecting me from myself... (emphasis on dripping sarcasm)

Yes, of course. We still very much want to introduce the Carvex in the US/Canadian markets.

From Festools perspective, they're sitting on inventory and postponing profits. I would think they're as or more upset than we are. I'm sure they want it on the market. Patience grasshopper.

Oh common, don't you guys recognize "Legalese" by now?  Here is my interpretation:

While Festool USA knows that most US users will use the Carvex as it was designed our realtime user monitoring service (i.e. FOG) has shown that some plan to utilize the removable base to create a table mounted jigsaw.  As we have determined that anything table mounted exposes us to a high liability we have decided to cancel the Carvex in the NA market. 

As a fixed base Carvex is nothing more than a blinged out Bosch ( I mean Trion) we will not be seeing the Carvex in the US until/if ever the CMS is released as well.

I get the feeling that  if Festool was to fart at a dinner party that some of you would feel blessed to be in the presence of it's gas.  We are so lucky that Festool does not release some of it's most useful tools to the US market because of it's CYA policy.
