Can't deal with the Classics!!!

I agree that the T-Locks are much nicer, easier, and faster to use and I'd like to have all T-Locks but I can't afford that.  I want to eventually move most of my items into systainers and I've bought a bunch of classics at really good prices.  I'm going to get some more but I'll never pay close to T-Lock prices.

Hey, I'll take any you guys have to offer. I haven't been around Festool long enough to form an opinion one way or the other.

That's how I felt a year ago, when I purchased a number of classics, because they where on clearance. Now, about a year later with 28 systainers which I would like all T-loc, 8 of those are classics, 6 now empty. 2 to go. If you are stacking to bring to a work site, you realize the Classic have to be stacked on the bottom, you have to remove everything on top to open, and it's just more work to connect them and to open them. Once you see all the advantages of the T-loc, and you get lazy, :) you never want to deal with the classics any more.

I like the classics, they work a lot better in the SYS-port. Tried to go all classic, but the inserts aren't compatible.

I take it that the latch can't be left open?

I like the classics. I keep things I need access to while stacked in t-locs though. Not sure if anyone else does this but I only pop the sides and just slide the systainers back.

When the "drawer" gets closed on an open T-Loc, the latch flies off...

Tom

EDIT:
I tend to leave my "classics" open, when in the SYS-Ports.

DOUBLE-EDIT:
It's not a big deal that the latch flies off. It's easy to re-attach...

Tom,
That's so funny, I just found a T-loc latch on the floor in front of one of my sysports.  Now I know why! [embarassed]

Have you seen the newer plastic bin inserts for the T-Locs that hold dominos or other things? In the linked picture those are three long plastic bins, with a divider in the center of each, in the systainer. They can be removed and they also stack on each other so that they can be stacked inside a taller systainer.

I just bought  a domino assortment systainer and your right the boxes that fit inside are awesome.  Can you buy them separately?

I don't see them listed separately on EKAT, Lee Valley , or Woodcraft. But that doesn't necessarily mean they are not available.  I do see that the empty Domino Tenon Systainer is available.

I have about equal numbers of T-loc systainers and classic systainers.  I do prefer the T-locs but I'm OK with the classics and don't plan to replace them.

Actually, I would like to lay my hands on about 5 classic mini systainers but can't find them for sale anywhere.  Does anyone know where I can purchase some?

Same here, the t-loc knob just gets in the way when systainer are in a sys-port.

I tend to leave the classics open when in a SYS-Port.

If you want to have the T-Locs open while in there, just open them and shove the drawer back in. It pops the "T" handle off and you can then just store it inside the systainer.
