Can't figure out "extra" MFT/3 Screw/Knob

In October I bought a TS75/CT26 to break down sheet goods for a kitchen that I'm building.  Since then, I've totally drunk the Kool-Aid and got an RO125, and appreciate how everything goes together.  I decided to get an MFT/3 + the FX clamping set, because it seemed like the next logical progression to help hold work pieces in place while sanding/other operations.

Anyway, the actual question is that I think I followed the directions, but have an extra knob and screw; and I can't figure out where they should go.  They're the two elements in the center of the picture.

Thanks,
Charles

Welcome to the FOG.

I can't see what the spare knob is for, without examining my own MFT later, but it looks like you have the table setup the wrong way round.  Actually, there are many ways to use the MFT but there is a 'default' way.

The 'front' of the table is considered to be the long side with the label nearest you - so it is at your front left position.  The rail supports slide in from the left hand side, with the hinging one on the rear side - you look to have slid yours in from the right.

The protractor and rail would normally be attached on the rear side.  The cutout bit of the stop rail should be under the guide rail.

There's a Festool video on youtube here:

It should look something like this:

I just had the same thing on an MFT I picked up yesterday. The knob goes into the side of the clamping element for the angle unit that you see hanging outside the side rail. You can see the hole there, and the knob should be on the side your camera was looking at.

Agree that front and back are swapped.

FWIW, yet another setup video, first of 3 parts, capturing Steve at at one of the Vegas classes:

Thanks guys.  I put the knob/bolt in the miter gauge and everything makes sense and it was nice and sturdy that way.

I also swapped it to the back, which makes a lot of sense; since now everything folds up out of the way to use the table for work holding.  I had a cabinet platform that needed some tweaking to make a kick space heater fit, and those ratchet clamps were great for holding it to the table.
