Hi all, I'm doing a bit of market research on a product I'm developing. Apologies for the box being the wrong colour ( [wink]) but I do have makita tools as well. I have the cantilevered toolbox and it irks me that the boxes provided aren't long enough for pencils or some drill bits, and I can't find anything to fit the bill so I've come up with these. A 3 long by 1 wide box, and some half height stacking boxes for smaller items. Do you think they're a good idea? Would you buy them? If so what would you expect to pay?

Pretty cool [member=75240]MakHack[/member]

I've had customer send me pics of 3D printed insert boxes too.

I suspect there is some market for it.  Since it is 3D printing and kind of a low barrier to test, I'd encourage you to post them on Etsy or Ebay, and let the forum know.  I'm even willing to give you a shout out on Instagram if you post a pic or have a profile there.

I love it when customers add to the system and do things like this.  So I'd say try it, there doesn't need to be a big upfront cost.

Thanks Systainer Store. I do have an etsy shop so I could just test the water. There's a lot more plastic there than you'd assume given the shape, hence my question surrounding price point.

Given the existence of this:https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2877098, and a lot of other cool 3d designs for systainers out there, I think you can charge a reasonable amount on Etsy for those who don't have 3D printers, but there is not a lot of unique intellectual property or difficult tooling or materials that would be worth a large premium. I'd just release the designs to the community of cool folks remixing their systainers here and elsewhere, and sell a few for those without a printer.
