Hi there, I was thinking about buying the accessories for my Carvex but I'm struggling to justify the purchase, completely. I'm sure I would use it at times, but I was wondering do Festoolians get a lot of use out there Carvex Accessories, if they have one?

Hi Woodchippie

I'm a Joiner / Cabinetmaker and I do a bit of general contracting. I pull that set out about every two days. It has allowed me to use the Carvex more than I normally would.

Cheers

Leon

Hi woodchippie
a lot depends on the work you are doing,i do a lot of site work ,kitchens and fitted units, flooring, I did not get one at the
time I got my jigsaw, but had to get the angled base for a job the next week and the steel base a weeks after ,have most of the base now and have just got the circular cutter jig for my next job, now have most of the bits and use a lot more then I thought I would,as with all festool stuff once you got it you think how much quicker it is to get the job done, ps. it's cheaper to get the set in the long run .

I've got the kit but have only used the circle cutter and angle base oh and splinter guards.
Not sure if it would have been cheaper to just buy these on there own, probably not much in it, but I have the other bases that I will probably use in the future especially the metal base.

Excuse the slight thread hijack but I've just got a carvex psc420 and it feels really rattly. When switched on it seems to vibrate a lot more than I'd expected it to . Are they all like that ?

if you contact Phil, there is a guy who might be able to come out to see you.
I had a setup problem, and he came to help me out.
I don't have a local Festool supplier.
I would say it not suppose to rattle though!

Yeah it's set up right just think it doesn't feel very premium as it should . Rattles like mad when held, so much so that the extraction attachment bangs on the battery

I've got the cordless barrel grip and that rattles like mad, I presumed that they were all like that. Cuts fine and I don't often use the dust extraction with it as I'm usually cutting outside.
One thing that did take a bit of getting used to was switching it on and off. the position of the switch seemed awkward to turn off to start with, as it is a two sided switch, I switch on with the thumb but turning it off I need to use the index finger on the other switch. anyone else found this awkward?

Good so they're all like it then lol

The switch is great compared to the 300 model I have that's much more awkward

I'm a carpenter and I do mostly remodeling and furniture now,  I use most of the parts of the kit monthly. As for the rail guide I probably use it the most,  I have modified mine to work with my Makita and Festool rails, but I use it more for jigs like when I need to invert the saw or need an angled base that has more surface area. It comes in handy and is more cost effective if you think you may use all the parts. If not just buy what you think you will need.

Yeh the carvex is rattley, when it's planted on material working it's not nearly as bad. It's a downside to having a really light compact jigsaw I think.

I have the steel/phenolic base I use pretty often. Also bought the circle jig but I still think I will use my router to cut circles/arcs.

Personally I really dislike the design of the angle base and haven't bought one. I don't know why they'd compromise stability in order to cut In a way that I doubt any proffesional would.

I'm hoping a 3rd party will make a useful angle base.

I am the same but the trouble is if you don't get something then you will be bound to need it.

Mine doesn't rattle but it is quite new.  The switch is a bit weird and takes getting used too. I like the idea of turning it on with the thumb and off with the index finger. I'll have to try that.
