Hi
I am fairly new to festool.  I recently purchased  a carvex and am  having. Difficulty installing a new blade the issue is that the new blade doesn't seat . When I use a short blade I don't have any problem. Obviously I am doing something wrong, anyone have any suggestions re seating .

Sorry to hear about your difficulties.  I have read about others having a difficult time with shorter blades just from an access standpoint and an easy answer was to just pop off the base.

Maybe this video from Festool will give you some ideas:

If you are using the Festool gold colored blade with "Trion" written on it, that's likely the issue. That blade is slightly thicker than other blades and does not work well with the Carvex. The same blade is available with "Carvex" written on it for that jigsaw.

I have just shot a short sequence for my next "Workshop Notes" videos about this. Difficulties can be caused by...

If you have the base runner (foot) attached you need to remove the disposable splinter guard otherwise it will interfere with the blade twisting motion which is needed for ejection. For simplicity I remove the base runner when changing blades.

Sometimes the mechanism can stop in the down position (lowest part of stroke for the blade) and in such circumstances the blade ejector does not line up with the tab near the top of the blade that is pushed by the ejector to release the blade. If this is the case then run the machine for a few seconds to get it to come to rest in the right spot. I have found that one long burst of running is more likely to reset this. It make take several short bursts to get it to stop in the right place.

Remember to remove the power cord from the wall or remove the battery before attempting to change a blade.
