I was thinking it would be much more...I was just about to buy a Trion, looks as if I will be waiting now.  Why would someone buy the Trion over the Carvex at a $40.00 diff??  Will the price on the Trion be going down?

You guys replying in the quotes are driving my nuts. [blink] [big grin]  I agree, I don't know what sucker would buy a Trion over the Carvex.

Trying to type with a 3 year old on your lap is tough!  ;D  (Although this time it was on purpose) [big grin]

Try typing with a hyper 7 month Golden Retriever trying to get on your lap and sticking his favorite ball in your mouth. [big grin]

This is the way to post outside the quotes.  Scroll down past the end of the post after you quote it.

I also thought that the Carvex would be more cost wise.  The Trion has its merits, but.  If you figure in all the cool bases plus the cost of the Carvex, it might make sense to get the Trion if you have a specific need.

The dust extraction doesn't work with the base for the rails/circle cutter either.

I don't think that's correct. Check out Mike's video.

Festool_Carvex_PS400_Cutting_with_Guide_Rail.mp4

Thanks Brice!

Although my Carvex base for the rail doesn't retain the dust extraction device anything like in that movie. Mine is currently in for repair of the problem with the guide, but as soon as I get it back I'll give it another go :-)

The question about power between the Trion and Carvex...

The Carvex (including the corded models) will have a brushless motor. This motor is significantly more efficient than the regular motor in the Trion. For that reason it is more powerful than the Trion even though it has a lower wattage motor.

Plus, the Carvex cuts at up to 3,800 strokes per minute. This joker is FAST, fellas. If you see it in action, you're going to be blown away. There was a mob surrounding the demo station at JLC. I had the opportunity to demo it a few times and these things are going to be flying off the shelves. I'd highly recommend you pre-order with your dealer of choice if you're seriously considering one of these. And, it's a great deal getting all of the bases and the circle cutter for $200.

More information forthcoming VERY soon.  [wink]

...so I guess I screwed up the offerings for 2016, meeting the guys last year and giving my input.  Don't be too angry about your Festool sock changer and the wicker systainers.
Wicker Systainers, hmmm, yeah, I could see that.  Martha Stewart would find that it's a 'good thing'. [embarassed] [embarassed] [embarassed]
