But you don't say if it is better than your  bosch ones every thing i have bought festool so far has been way better than i have had before

It's much better than my bosch jigsaws I just miss the ability to tilt.

Why can't you tilt? Or do you not have the correct shoe?

No shoe I haven't bought the set... Yet...

It did I seem odd that what I deemed a basic function was not available as standard but if that's the price I pay for having a solid base that cuts square and doesn't wander around like the mrs in the January sales well then it's worth it.

Perhaps she can buy you a set of shoes while shopping? We normally refer to them as a pair of shoes here...

For those of us that don't have a clue what Marmite is, here is an explanation.

The British version of the product is a sticky, dark brown food paste with a distinctive, powerful flavour, which is extremely salty. This distinctive taste is reflected in the British company's marketing slogan: "Love it or hate it." The product's name has entered British English as a metaphor for something that is an acquired taste or tends to polarise opinions.[1]

Thank you for that...I had no idea what marmite was

I am going for it then barrel grip of d handle  all my jigsaws to date been d handle would it seem strange to change because i am thinking barrel grip thanks for everyone's help so far

I just realised that my new one is a barrel grip.
The D- handle seems to give better control, like holding a sabre.

And the barrel feels more guided like holding onto a handrail.

While it feels like less 'control', I think that the barrel may be better for not flexing the blade ???

Good luck flexing that blade Holmz. Unless you're using the Bosch blades?

There has to be a reason people get non-square cuts Mr Wuffles.
And sideways motion, or' drift action' of the jig saw would result sideways force on the blade.
If you grab the blade (with the saw off and unplugged) you could see if there is any flex.

As steel has the same general stiffness then the Bosch blades as the others are mostly differing in stiffness due to their geometry.

Every time I read a conversation here about jigsaws and cutting accuracy I let my mind drift back decades - I am older than Tinker who is stuck in a snow globe at age 39  [thumbs up] - and remember the hideous cuts of saws of old.  Much of the development and improvements in the saws of any brand have been to counteract the tendency to slide or drift or exert sideways pressure in some way.

If you have any brand of saw and do not pay attention to how you are propelling the blade thru the material you stand a better than not chance that your cuts will be less than anticipated.
